Steve Burton joins cast of Days of Our Lives Beyond Salem
The General Hospital veteran will be a part of the5 episode Peacock series.
Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem sequel
Peacock has announced a second chapter of the 5 episode Days of Our Lives spin-off mini-series Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem. The first series was quite successful but only included current and former cast members of the NBC soap. This time soap veteran Steve Burton who was formerly on ABC's General Hospital will join the regulars. The action will take place in exotic locales including Monte Carlo.
Burton portrayed Jason Morgan on ABC's General Hospital for 3 decades and was a fan favorite. He was fired at the end of 2021 because he refused the mandate to get the COVID vaccine. Since that time rumors have been flying regarding what the actor will do next.
Steve Burton: Separating fact from fiction
Fake news has appeared in Facebook groups stating that General Hospital has rehired the actor. There have been unfounded stories stating that Burton was going to reprise his role as Dillon Macavoy on CBS soap The Young and the Restless. It is also being wrongly reported that Steve is joining the cast of Days of Our Lives which is inaccurate at least at this time.
The soap vet will be a part of the Beyond Salem cast for 5 episodes beginning the week of July 11. There is always the possibility that DOOL could hire Burton or he could return to one of his previous roles, There is no information at this time to indicate anything other than his appearance on Beyond Salem.
Steve Burton once had a role on Days
Longtime DOOL viewers may recall that Burton was on the soap in 1988, in a minor role. He portrayed a teenage character named Harris Michaels who began dating Eve Donavan (Charlotte Ross). Donovan's dad Sean Donovan was played by Charles Shaughnessey who currently has the role of Victor Cassadine on General Hospital.
Harris began going out with Eve in an attempt to have sex with her because she had been a prostitute. He fell in love with Eve but when she found out the truth she dumped him. The Bold and the Beautiful is the only daytime drama still on the air that Burton has not been involved with. There is no information at this point to confirm nor deny if Burton will rpris2 his earlier role.
Salem and beyond
No major details regarding the second installment of Beyond Salem have been released except that in addition to Burton the cast will include Peter Reckell and Kristian Alfonso reprising their roles as Bo and Hope Brady. Since Bo has died this could be a fantasy or a dream. The shows on Peacock take place in a time and space that differs from what is taking place on NBC and Salem.
For whatever reason Peacock updated information about the first mini-series and the holiday movie A Very Salem Christmas in bits and pieces over a period of time. They are releasing information well in advance about the upcoming series.
The first Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem was free. Fans were stunned when the only way they could view A Very Salem Christmas was to subscribe to Peacock Premium for $4.99 a month and many viewerssaid they refused to pay for it. There is not yet any information regarding whether or not the new series will be free so stay tuned.
Burton's fans should be excited to see him in the mini-series but will continue to believe that one day he may return to General Hospital. Be on the lookout for updates and breaking news related to Steve Burton's Beyond Salem character, other Days of Our Lives cast members, and the plot of the mini-series.
