'Soul' is a gratifying adventure.

A spark isn’t a soul’s purpose - it’s a meaning of life.

Soul is Pixar’s latest film released to Disney+. A struggling musician has an out of body experience. Transported to a world called ‘The Great Before’, Joe cannot return to earth unless he mentors an infant soul. The journey that follows opens their minds.

I could not wait to watch Soul. It is an inspiring Pixar film. I commend Pixar for a job well done. Upon being released during a difficult time, Soul is an uplifting story about the importance of obtaining your purpose. But don’t let your purpose be your life.

One of my favorite traits about Joe is his passion for Jazz. But that is also his downfall. The lesson that he learns is an eye-opening moral. Jamie Foxx did an incredible job voicing Joe. He connected to the character delivering a heartfelt performance.

The arc between Joe and 22 (Tina Fey) was excellent. You never know who you are going to cross paths with. Their scenes were funny and also deep. Pixar achieved the importance of spending time in other people’s shoes. Not interested in finding a purpose, 22 grasps a perspective of life.

Voice credits include the talents of Graham Norton, Rachel House, Phylicia Rashad, Donnell Rawlings, Questlove, Angela Bassett, and many more. Because Pixar did a tremendous job creating this new world, original characters made audiences laugh.

The characters in Soul breathe genuineness to the screen. We get to know the characters, hence relating to them. And that is a valuable lesson.

Outside of the world, we have the chance to examine ‘The Great Before’. It examines how a soul is prepared for life on earth. I love it when Pixar explores new worlds. You never know, when you zone out doing what you love, you could transport yourself into a new world.

Pixar delivered a terrific film. They have come a long way with animation. I implore you to study the beautiful backgrounds and the detail that animators successfully captured. The flawless details are impressive.

The designs for characters, backgrounds, and just overall animation of someone’s hands playing the piano administers the right tone. Designs for characters in ‘The Great Before’ are especially noteworthy for their unique creations.

Pete Docter has become one of my favorite directors ever since he brought UP to the screen. Doctor created a film for audiences to relate to. It’s an original work. He made wise decisions. And he was also mindful of imagery.

The reason why he made Joe’s passion as a musician was for audiences to connect. It worked.

What is our purpose? Have you found your purpose? Eventually, we all find our purpose, and once you do, hold onto it. However, as Dez put it, your passion cannot be your whole world.

Live life. We need to experience the world and invest in others’ lives. Find a connection. Although this is your life, the people around you exist. Put aside your passion and see what others enjoy. You never know what you will learn about people.

I enjoyed Soul from beginning to end. Most of the storylines surprised me. Props go to writers for creating an original story. It made me think. I have had multiple passions that I am fond of - but I have to remember to enjoy life. Live life to the fullest, don’t be afraid of change, and find your spark.

Soul is a compelling imagination brought to life. It is a gratifying adventure, especially after a difficult year. Soul makes you feel something again. I recommend that you view it on Disney+.
