Season Two begins!

The final 6 issues of the 10-part science fiction adventure story set in a brutal world like no other starts here!

This really is one of the more amazing series I’ve been having the pleasure to be reading. If ever there were a reason for you to go digital, not completely but to add digital comics to reading retinue, this is it. I’m so impressed by the fact that this is so well written and illustrated that you could very well read this and understand it completely if it were simply Jock’s illustrations. As it stands Jeff’s story is way too good to go it alone and that we see such powerful characterisation just goes to show that a character driven story can be as thrilling and exciting as anything that’s action packed. It also shows us why ComiXology is the leader when it comes to digital comics with their wide array of offering in pretty much any and all genres that you could possibly imagine. I cannot wait and hope that once this is done being told there will be a trade or an omnibus of this story available in print.

I love, love, love the way that this is being told. The story & plot development that we see through how the sequence of events unfold as well as how the reader learns information is presented exceedingly well. The character development is phenomenal and that’s thanks to the dialogue, the character interaction and how they act and react to the situations and circumstances that they encounter. This also includes the unwritten parts during their journey that demonstrate their inner strength and fears. The pacing is superb and as it takes us through the pages revealing more and more of the story it brings us into this world with these two girls.

I greatly appreciate how we see this being structured and how the layers within the story continuing to grow, evolve and emerge anew as the encounters and moments dictate. The layers with their amazing characterisation and how we see their inner strength really adds so much depth and complexity to the story that we see. Its simply stunning to watch them soldier on against all odds. How everything works together to create the story’s ebb & flow as well as how it moves the story forward is magnificent to see.

Jock is amazing and that we see these whiteout conditions and how the sunlight shines on the snow and ice creating this myriad of blues and whites, yes there are shades of white folks, against seeing the girls all bundled up gives me the cold shivers. The attention to detail here is extraordinary and how we see the composition within the panels bringing us depth perception, sense of scale and the overall sense of size and scope to the story is amazing to see. The utilisation of the page layouts and how we see the angles and perspective in the panels show a masters eye for storytelling. The colour as I mentioned really bloody brilliant work. The various hues and tones within the colours being utilised to create the shading, highlights and shadow work is masterfully rendered.

We finally get a few answers to some questions that have been asked previously and it takes what we know and what we see and adds this great twist to the story. So the cliffhanger ending is beyond wonderful and it’s the perfect lead-in to next issue. I cannot wait to see what’s going to happen and how the girls are going to react to this realisation. I also have to mention that while I highly recommend that you read the first arc you can jump into this without having read it. It is new reader friendly, it will thrill you for how well this is thought out and executed so that you’ll have that desire to read the first arc. I cannot wait for next issue.
