Have faith in yourself. That is the only way you’ll get better.

Short Term 12 is a 2013 film. The staff of a residential treatment facility helps navigate troubled teens to seek new and better opportunities. Going through the day-to-day norms of the job, one of the residential workers ignores her problems so she can make a difference.

I am so glad that I discovered this movie. Short Term 12 is a strong story. You never know what hidden battles anyone is facing. One of the best parts of a new day is that you can make new memories. Watching Short Term 12 is eye-opening offering viewers to feel a new sense of self-appreciation.

Brie Larson is a dedicated actress. She has become one of my favorite actresses. Larson performs strong female figures harboring pain on the inside. Although working in a residential treatment facility is difficult, the life lessons that come out of it are worth it for Grace.

Refusing to let people in, Grace’s journey is uplifting. Larson was superb in connecting to her character, the residents, and occupying an aggressive attitude. Believing that if she revealed her true emotions, Grace fears that it will weaken her image.

Short Term 12 includes several recognizable faces. Credits include John Gallagher Jr., Frantz Turner, Kaitlin Dyer, Rami Malek, LaKeith Stanfield, Kevin Balmore, and a strong ensemble who embodied character depth. Interactions were notable, especially between Larson and Gallagher Jr.

Highlights go to Kaitlin Dyer and LaKeith Stanfield. These two actors have each had commendable acclimations in their careers. I am astounded by what they brought to the screen. In one of his first roles, Stanfield showcases how he can play a range of characters in his short decade of acting. His rap song was a delight.

In one of his first appearances on the big screen before his breakout role in Bohemian Rhapsody, Rami Malek did a great job in his approach to the role. As a rookie member of the facility, he has to learn all the ins and outs quickly. It is challenging, but in the end, it is worth it to help fix problems.

Destin Daniel Cretton did a remarkable job setting the tone of the film. For most of the film, there is an unknowing vibe. I like what Cretton did with the camera angles. Instead of focusing on one storyline, viewers watch what a normal day is like in a residential treatment facility.

My favorite part about this film is how it relays focus to residential treatment. As explained in the film the facilities are meant to as a safe environment. Some scenes are tough to watch, but audiences need to witness. Everyone is going through an issue. Or even invisible battles.

Short Term 12 gives people who have personal issues a more positive label. We can never keep to ourselves. Nobody can ever get through life on their own without a helping hand. Everything gets better if you relay your thoughts and make a friend.

Short Term 12 is a bold subject matter. The story reinforces a subject that challenges all audiences to think and be open-minded. It also dictates a good lesson about your dream job. Once you find it, not every day is going to be the best. However, you know that you have found your career when the lessons that you have learned make an impact.

This film is not talked about enough. Short Term 12 is a reflective and emotional film that showcases incredible talents. I recommend that you find it and watch it for its heartwarming message to viewers.
