Has a whole new story just opened up in the show? Season Eight of 'The Big Bang Theory' ended with a jaw-dropping cliffhanger. Sheldon was finally ready to drop the question and ask Amy to marry him. Sadly for Sheldon he was too late. Amy broke up with him shorty before he pulled the ring out of his desk draw. But it didn't take them long to get back together again during the latest Season of the show.

But the Season Finale for the ninth Season of the show took cliffhangers to the next level. The day had arrived once again for Penny and Leonard as they prepared to get married again, this time with their family there too. Including Mary Cooper. “The Convergence Convergence” saw the debut appearance of the long awaited Leonard's father, Alfred played by Judd Hirsch. It didn't take long for Leonard's mum to realise Leonard invited his dad along to the wedding. This was the right thing of Leonard to do, however his mum wasn't too pleased.

The whole episode itself had the focus taken off the main cast and focused on Mary and Alfred. It didn't take long for them to get along with each other exceptionally well. The last few minutes of the episode saw Alfred leave the pre-wedding dinner early as he was "tired". He was promptly followed by Mary. It was soon revealed that they were staying in the same hotel together. This then put the visions in Leonard's head that they were about to go and have sex together. But not so much Sheldon. Him being himself didn't really notice it to start with.

Seconds before the credits rolled, Sheldon and Leonard were sat in their apartment anxiously and nervously as they tried to contact their parents. Mary and Alfred had their phones switched off which caused the boys to panic. To find out what happened, we have to wait until 27th October 2016 when Season 10 of the show is released. Will they being having sex, or have they just switched their phones off for the sake of it?

This may not be a huge cliffhanger for some, some people believe that Season Nine slacked in humour throughout the episodes. Whereas, some see the latest cliffhanger as a big one and Season Nine being one of the best Seasons. Obviously it would be disappointing if it's revealed in Season 10 that they were in separate rooms the whole time and happened to have their phones switched off.

It currently looks like a relationship between Mary and Alfred will be confirmed in the coming Season in October. If the relationship becomes a rather successful relationship and Mary and Alfred get married, that means one thing. Sheldon and Leonard will be brothers. Well technically speaking step brothers. But it's still looked at as brothers. If this happens, who knows what thoughts would be running through Sheldon and Leonard's heads. According to showrunner Steven Molaro, the final episode of Season Nine was meant to have a brotherly feel to it.

There was – it fell out of the script – a joke referring to them as potential brothers. I’m going to go with the word ‘uncomfortable’ probably is a good starting place for their primary emotion of where we leave them and where we will pick up.

The uncomfortable wait for Season 10 has begun and fans are hyped to see the outcome of the current situation. The big question now is: Do You Want Sheldon and Leonard To Become Brothers?
