Life is like a comedy. It’s ironic, but life is like that sometimes.

She’s Funny That Way is a 2014 comedy. A complicated love triangle forms on the set of a playwright’s new project. Trying to figure everything out so rehearsals can run smoothly, several incidents occur as everyone is argumentive.

It has been a while since I have seen a movie that had me laughing up the walls. She’s Funny That Way knows it’s a comedy. In this hilarious film, She’s Funny That Way presents a humorous tale of crafty mix-ups. Along with an integral moral about finding your purpose.

Imogen Poots, Owen Wilson, Jennifer Aniston, Kathryn Hahn, Rhys Ifans, Austin Pendleton, George Morfogen, and Will Forte were excellent. They invested in their interactions along with their backgrounds. For a movie like this, their chaotic energy was exceptional.

They had to film a lot of argument scenes, that’s for sure. And slapping. I was surprised by all the slapping, which didn’t feel necessary. I could tell that the cast had a fun time working on this film which makes the experience all the more enjoyable.

I am most impressed by Imogen Poots. I never heard of her before so I am curious to check out more of her performances in films. She is the driving force of the story. Poots narrates the tale with strong dictation.

Isabella’s character is an integral moral that we should never judge someone based on their profession. Her growth is inspiring. She did a tremendous job acting through acting.

Love is a central theme in She’s Funny That Way. There is not just one story going on. I like when movies do that. It gives attention to every character, instead of paying focus to one subplot.

If you are a fan of hectic dinner table arguments, and if you’re wondering if this film contains one, this is the movie for you. The disordered restaurant sequence where the love triangles meet up at the same place at the wrong time was my favorite. The reactions are priceless!

Peter Bogdonovich hit the mark with comedy. Comedy is tough. It’s all about delivery and timing. The cast worked closely in their interactions. The film would not have worked without Bogdonovich’s direction. Bogdonovich and Louise Stratton wrote creative dialogue and a fun story.

It is a silly story that worked in clever moments of comedy that made me laugh out loud. Other than the restaurant, the scene with the cab driver is one of my favorites. The film never slows down in its run and weaves the storylines together nicely.

There is a lot of running around over the course of the story. Although this a technique that has been used across a multitude of comedy films, it felt overdone. And some points felt, awkward because it would happen randomly without a purpose. I was expecting a lot of the revelations to happen.

That does not mean that you should skip out on watching She’s Funny That Way. Movies are the best escape. We can make up our own adventures with the endings we want. Just don’t forget to make it a good one.

She’s Funny That Way has a good moral. We can relate to most of the characters and their problems. We should never let problems distract us from our purpose. Another message that the film rightfully delivered was the importance of therapists. Seeing a therapist is okay.

Watch She’s Funny That Way on your next Friday night. It’s guaranteed that nobody will stop laughing through the duration of this hilarious movie. Make some popcorn and enjoy.
