'Shazam' Sequel Star Teases Major Cameo

Who Could Be Joining Our Superhero?

Warner Bros/DC Films appears to be moving its characters away from the “Snyderverse.” The most recent announcement has been stirring for a few months now. Rachel Zegler, who will be joining the cast in the role of another goddess, recently told Empire Magazine that there just might be an appearance by Wonder Woman in the next Shazam! movie. This means that Gal Gadot may be in Shazam! Fury of the Gods alongside Zachary Levi this December 16, 2022.

While Shazam! Fury of the Gods will be Zegler’s first appearance in the superhero genre, she will also be playing the titular character in the upcoming Disney’s live-action Snow White opposite Gal Gadot’s Evil Queen. In her interview, Zegler expressed her excitement at working alongside Gadot, and also hinted at her appearance in the upcoming Shazam sequel:

“I’m not going to say much, but [filming Snow White] wasn’t our first meeting.”

The three daughters of Atlas, Hespera (Helen Mirren), Calypso (Lucy Liu), and one unnamed goddess (Rachel Zegler), will be the main antagonists in the Shazam! sequel. With Wonder Woman’s villains challenging the Shazam family in Shazam! Fury of the Gods, she just might be interested in returning to the modern-day universe to deal with them. Shazam and Wonder Woman could be working together against their common foes.

Wonder Woman teaming up with Shazam could mean that the DCEU is serious about connecting to different locations of its universe. As Shazam has already met Superman, having Shazam encounter other DCEU characters would only strengthen his ties to the universe’s future. Wonder Woman’s appearance in the sequel could also point at the appearances of other members of the Justice League in the movie.

On the other hand, the appearance of Wonder Woman in the movie could have more to do with the gods Shazam is fighting rather than with Shazam himself. Many people would like to see Gal Gadot take Rachel Zegler’s character under Wonder Woman’s wing. Nevertheless, everyone would wholeheartedly welcome the sight of Wonder Woman in Shazam! Fury of the Gods.

The entire Shazam family will return in the Shazam! Fury of the Gods. Fans can expect to see Billy Batson (Asher Angel), his super-powered alter ego Shazam (Zachary Levi), Freddy (Jack Dylan Grazer), Eugene (Ian Chen), Pedro (Jovan Armand), Darla (Faithe Herman), and Mary (Grace Fulton). Adam Brody, D.J. Cortona, Ross Butler, and Meagan Good will also be portraying their teen characters as adults.

With the DCEUs looking to move away from the “Snyderverse,” there may be some disappointment that those actors will not be in future DCEU movies. There is uncertainty for Ben Affleck’s Batman and Henry Cavill’s Superman. This leaves an open slot for Wonder Woman especially since her villains are the ones that are going against Shazam. There are so many new projects out there that the fans cannot help but wonder what their favorite character is doing next. It will be interesting to see how the upcoming movies fare at the box office. Christmas time is always a very busy time for movie premieres. Fans will just have to wait and see what Shazam! Fury of the Gods has in store for them.
