If you’re anything like me (an elementary narcissist), you can see yourself in the characters on screen or in a novel. These three selections give insight of how it began, where it went, and where it’s all going (hopefully), for me anyway. I like to think having rebellious spunk at any age is more than just an egotistic phenomenon. These three satisfy all sinister cravings. From riotous adolescence, to the lucrative sexual escapades in adulthood, which ultimately lead to the fabulous revelations and domination of being a materialist elder. A timeline that I ultimately aspire to embark on myself these three series follow journeys of some delightful self absorbed individuals. If you’re being self credible about how you’re spending your time in ISO, fear not. Watch these series for a comforting comparison on how your life could be. All three are dramatised just, to that perfectly watchable degree.

Skins

Young adulthood told through the eyes of all the characters you meet in the series. Each episode opens up through the eyes of a new perspective. Characters who are so emotional deficit (as all teens are), they are troubled by the suburban temptations of underground drugs and first time sexual encounters. As juvenile as the characters may sound, remember, this series is through the perspective of the teens, so of course the adults and parents are the juvenile ones! Offering bizarre dynamics between parent and child that only all of us can relate to. With no need for censorship, Skins has just the right amount of British quirk and emo darkness. With a decadent spread of characters to see yourself in, you’ll sure relate to the first series in this suggestion, Skins.

Secret Diary of a Call Girl

If you’ve ever wanted to know the potential your little black book holds, have a sneak peak into that of Belle’s. The women every women wishes she could be, even for a day. We may not have the balls to do what Belle’s does, but there is no denying that a fantasy of being a women with her kind of liaisons is one every women has flirted with. These crazy times have locked us away safe inside, without human contact. On the contrary in Secret Diary of a Call Girl, Belle is getting a lot! Of sex that is. In times we’ve been instructed to maintain social distancing, Belle is getting it from all angles, up close and very personal. Rest assured, you could watch this with your housemates without feeling creepy. Secret Diary of a Call Girl has a dynamic romantic plot along with continued struggle of self identity and life balance. We see more that what her clients do, as we meet Belle’s counterpart (Hannah). A story of a British Call Girl and her extensive sexual transactions, when we in ISO are maintaining distancing. A tease non the lease but one guilty pleasure that’s worth the rewatch.

Absolute Fabulous

An inspirational piece Darling, truely! Absolutely Fabulous gives us an insight to the potential of our drinking habits since ISO. No, not really, but Eddy and Patsy sure do share the same enthusiasm for a martini as the vast majority of the western female population do right now. A light hearted feminine comedy that your boyfriend will love all the same. The uncensored antics these two fashionesters’ get up to will have you shaking your head No in absolute agreement. I think we all see ourselves growing old with our best friend, not our lover, our Best-Friend. The one you’ve laughed with over many cocktails - the one you’ll be watching this with over a zoom chat. “Sin-Is-In” and so is Absolute Fabulous. The 90’s are relived through its fabulous fashion and its naughties music, this series being a prime example of what fabulous characters filled the 90’s. Eddy and Pasty are old school pop-culture, yet remain symbolic today with our unapologetic desire for materialistic fashions. We’ve all become consumers from our couches during these times, you’re not alone. Online shopping is more product than window shopping, don’t let anybody tell you otherwise! Energetic, clumsy and warm hearted, Eddie and Patsy are Absolutely Fabulous, and so is this series.
