Savannah Bananas: 2026 Halloween Costume Reveal

Baseball is still the word for the third consecutive year

By Mark Wesley Pritchard Published a day ago • 4 min read

Spooky season has officially arrived. I love fall because of two reasons: the colorful leaves falling off of trees and Halloween. After much anticipation, here's my costume for this year. I'm on a two-year company-wide Halloween costume contest winning streak at aiming for three wins in a row. When I told one of my coworkers that I was sticking with the baseball theme for Halloween, he was surprised. I explained to him that I was on a winning streak and determined to win this year. By the way, I didn't explicitly tell him that I was going as a Savannah Banana for Halloween. The one clue I could give him was something yellow.

Let's go over my costume for this year I revealed on social media as of the early morning hours of October 2: I have one yellow wristband on my left wrist and blue and yellow bracelets on the other. The necklaces compliment my outfit well. Also, the jersey is something I customized and bought from eBay. I chose the number 13, even though someone on the Savannah Bananas already has this number. I chose that number for two reasons: I was born on the 13th of November and since I'm a Scorpio, it's considered as a lucky number. The back of the jersey, which you can view at the end of this story, has the name Professor on it. Why the name Professor, you ask? That's because it was my childhood nickname. There wasn't a clear reason why my estranged mother gave me that nickname, but I can theorize that I was smart, despite my autism. You have my permission to call me Professor, and my glasses fits perfectly with my nickname. The necklaces and bracelets are from Etsy, while the rest of my items for this costume were from eBay. As much as I looked great in this costume, I didn't need a hat or bandanna. Adding either item would've ruined the true essence of this costume.

I love Halloween. No, I'm obsessed with it because I love dressing up and the candy. Just in case you weren't familiar with my last two Halloween costumes, here they are.

Reggie Jackson (2024)

For my new readers and potential new subscribers who aren't familiar with me, I used to cosplay. 2024 was the year that I officially retired from this wonderful craft after doing it for 10 years. I attended my last convention as the five-time World Series champion and Baseball Hall of Famer. While I didn't win any of the categories in the cosplay contest, which would be the final one I would participate in, I had a great time at the event and closed the door on a decade-long cosplay journey. Days later at work, I went as him and was one of the three winners who won the company-wide Halloween contest. The 1977 World Series trophy, which was made by my now former cosplay craftsman of seven years, suited my costume to a T.

Angel in the Outfield (2025)

Still sticking to the baseball theme for Halloween 2025, I went as an Angel in the Outfield. Before any of you judge me on the jersey, getting a California Angels jersey was both expensive and impossible for me to purchase. So, I found a Los Angeles Angels replica jersey without any player's name on the back, which is what I wanted. Citing budget concerns, customizing a jersey would've been outside my price range. Finding the rest of the items needed for my costume on eBay wasn't difficult at all. I also purchased a halo, but when it arrived, something was off. For context, the halo was supposed to light up. Unfortunately, it didn't. Fortunately, I bought an Angels hat, and I wore some eye black, as you can see in this pic. At work for the company-wide Halloween costume contest, I placed first and received a gift card. Paying homage to a 90s Disney film really worked wonders for yours truly.

If I do end up winning this year's costume contest for the third consecutive year, I have plans of continuing on with the baseball theme until the streak is broken. I've won five Halloween costume contests overall as an adult. Should I win this year's contest, I already have ideas prepared for next year. Rickey Henderson, Willie Mays, and Ron Washington are some of the people on my list for 2027.

I'll always love Halloween and dress up for the holiday until the day I die. If someone makes fun of you for this, then they're just missing out on all the fun. Besides, fun doesn't and will never have an expiration date. Do what makes you happy, not relying on validation or approval from strangers.
