Before continuing there are spoilers ahead.

When it comes to Disney, it is easy to fall in love with the stories that come into the box office. Today I am going to be reviewing Disney's animated feature, Frozen.

The 2013 film takes place in Arendelle with a mid-century/ modern design. The story's main focus is on two sisters Elsa and Anna. One sister has magical ice powers while the other is born normal.

In the beginning it is shown that the duo are very close playing in the middle of the night with snowmen and sleds and what not until an accident renders Anna unconscious. It is then we see trolls take away memories of Elsa's powers and Elsa is forced away from her sister making control over her powers weaker.

Later on in the film Elsa demolishes her distance by having a celebration of her getting her long awaited crown, otherwise known as a coronation. Anna instantly falls for a prince that isn't everything he's cracked up to be.

Elsa refuses to let Anna marry someone she's just met and loses control of her powers when Anna presses her for more information on why. Elsa then flees her town leaving it all to freeze over while she hides on a mountain top.

Anna then spends the rest of the time trying to get to her sister to try and get her to unfreeze the city and get back to normal. During her attempt she is shot in the heart by Elsa's frost and slowly begins to freeze to death, only to be saved by an act of true love.

She immediately thinks of the prince runs to him only to fall empty handed by his greed for the crown. In the end Prince Hans is out to kill Elsa, Anna saves her right before she turns into solid ice. However Elsa's love frees her from this prison and unfreezes the town.

Many say that it is the first film in a long time that features a female protagonist that is strong and has no male to accompany her. However I rate this as a 2 star out of 5.

While the entire show is full of catchy tunes to sing along with, there are a few problems with the film.

First is the parents. Instead of working with Elsa to try and control it, they lock her away from everyone in fear of them finding out that she is different. They are saying that her being different is not okay at all.

It especially frustrated me that the trolls even told them love is the answer for control over her powers and yet they still isolate her away from everyone.

When it comes to children, I want them to know that being different is okay, that they don't need to hide who they are. Each of us are individuals who need to celebrate our differences. Not isolate them.

Another problem is that Elsa runs away. Granted this is mostly due to the parents but still she runs away. Instead of being the queen and rightful leader she runs away from her problems and tried to pretend that everything is fine with her gone.

The film displays a sense that if you run away from your problems, someone else with come and fix them for you, which is very unrealistic and is considered a fault in a leader of a country.

As far as the film goes it is colorful catchy and children do love it but its role models need some serious work.

When watching I do think it should be a point to make sure your children know it is not okay to run away from your problems and they are loved even if they are different, especially since differences can lead to bullying and abuse later on because of things related to faults in this film.

Thank you for reading.
