Punchline was the Perfect Girlfriend for Joker
It took a random fan of Joker to fulfill his madness.

Punchline was one of the new DC villains that was introduced to the franchise, that instantly gained a cult following. What makes Punchline special is that she becomes the new girlfriend of Joker, making her a brand-new villain that could possibly rival that of Harley Quinn. However, when it comes to Harley Quinn's love story with the Joker involving nothing but manipulation to get her under Joker's control, Punchline was a completely different story.
Punchline turned out to be a crazy fan of Joker's, who was willing to do anything to join stay by his side. She murders a man in front of him, that was a dean of a college. She is literally applying makeup on herself, becoming Punchline for the first time. Joker immediately takes a liking to her, realizing that her devotion to him is legit, and he decides to make her his next girlfriend. It was also pretty scary to learn how young Punchline actually is, since she was still going to college, but her obsession with the Joker never wavered, and she was willing to do anything to be with him.
While we fans are aware that Joker is using her like he did with Harley Quinn, Punchline felt like a very different relationship. Compared to the abusive relationship he had with Harley Quinn, from the comics I had found of Punchline, I don't think he ever tried to actually hurt Punchline. I really think that Joker liked that she accepted him for who he was, instead of trying to change him like Harley Quinn tried to do. Punchline was something different, a woman that idolized him instead of believing that he was capable of changing.
Punchline's obsession with the Joker was pretty scary too, and she came off more of a female version of Joker than she did to that of Harley Quinn. Punchline was a sadistic villain that enjoyed hurting people, just like the Joker. It looked like they also had fun together, and their devotion to each other was kind of eerie in some scenes of the comics I found.
Of course, Punchline and Harley Quinn eventually do meet, but instead of expressing jealousy, Harley Quinn attempts to warn her that Joker will dump her once he grows tired of her.
The two women get into a huge fight, and Harley Quinn unfortunately loses the first battle when Punchline attempts to slit her throat. Batman finds Harley Quinn later, and she ends up winning the second fight, when she bumps into Punchline later.
I struggled to feel bad for Punchline, because compared to Harley Quinn, Punchline definitely did not have a heart. She was pure evil, and was willing to support Joker's views of Gotham, including wanting to fight Batman. Harley Quinn was redeemable to a point, but Punchline was another whole ball game.
After going over several comic books of Punchline, I could not get over the fact that Joker was able to score another beautiful woman. Joker literally got two women fawning over him, but he would rather throw them both away than stay with either of them. I still think that Punchline was a special occasion, because Joker did really like Punchline's psychotic side.
Punchline is one of the villains in DC that was a risk, but it paid off in the long run. It felt so fresh to see another villain that could actually match the Joker's psyche, and I never thought Joker was capable of finding another woman to fall for him, but when it came to Punchline, it worked.
Punchline has such an awesome design as a villain, and she instantly became one of my favorite villains in DC. She feels so underrated to me, but hopefully she will one day get her own movie among the DC franchise.
