Psych: Keeps it coming

Psych: The Movie premiered in December 2017 on the USA Network where the original series aired from July 7, 2006, until March 26, 2014. Psych 2: Lassie Come Home followed in July 2020, as a Peacock Original and could be viewed free on the streaming service. Psych 3: This Is Gus arrived in November 2021 but only for those who were paying for Peacock. The third film played out just like the television series and it seemed like old times to the fans. There were some loose ends and Psych-O's are eagerly awaiting the fourth movie to get some answers.

Psych 3 left fans on the edge of their seats as did practically every episode of the 8 years of the series on USA. The film seemed so much like the television show that you almost expected to hear an announcer telling you to please tune in to the next episode. Number three was fast-paced enjoyable and at times predictable but that's what Psych-O's crave. Fans were delighted to hear Shawn Spencer (James Roday Rodriguiz) say "Come on son" and call Burton Guster (Dule Hill) by a few of his nicknames like Black Jack Arnold, and Burton Guster Rodriguez.

Psych 3 highlights

There were so many moments in the film that kept viewers in stitches and fans hope Psych 4 will do the same. One of those moments came when Ray Wise was hilarious as Father Wesley who could not distinguish between marriage vows and an exorcism ritual. He finally got the job done via video just in time for Gus to be married before Shawn delivered the baby. Burton was afraid the child would be born out of wedlock and he would disappoint his mother. Everything happened at breakneck speed which is what has come to be expected.

Another classic moment in the film came during Curt Smith's "Last Christmas" music video parody titled “Previous Holiday.” Psych-O's had been watching during the entire movie to find the hidden pineapples and there was only one and it was saved for the end. During the music video while Selen is in the cabin decorating the tree, with a garland pineapple that blends in with the other decorations. Smith's appearance also let fans know that he did not die after being mauled by a panther in the 100th episode during the Clue tribute in season 6.

Psych 4 is necessary

Psych creator Steve Frakes has talked about at least 6 films being made and fans want the 4th installment ASAP. Everyone wants to know the name of Gus and Selene's baby, and whether or not Shawn and Juliet O'Hara Spencer (Maggie Lawson) will have a child of their own. During Psych 3 Shawn seemed to warm up to the idea and now that Juliet is a godmother she too might change her mind about having her own baby. If they have a boy then their son and the son of Gus and Selen might become BFF's as well and begin an entirely new chapter.

Gus who usually faints at the slightest uncomfortable sight handled his son being born pretty well. PsyFans are hoping 4 will bring Gus's parents to town to fawn over their new grandchild. Burton's father has been portrayed by Ernie Hudson of Ghostbusters fame and Keith David who was the Bishop in the television series Greenleaf. Phylicia Rashad from The Cosby Show was Burton's mom. Psych 3 brought back the magic and mayhem of the television series that seemed to be missing from the first two films.

Psycho fans are waiting

Fans will be eager to find out how Gus handles being a new father while solving mysteries with Shawn. Psych-O's understand that Shawn and Gus are the show but the supporting cast are important as well. Perhaps in the 4th, 5th,a and 6th installments, there might be a way for Henry Spencer (Corbin Bernsen) Woody Strode (Kurt Fuller), Buz Mcnab, (Sage Brocklebank) and especially Carlton Lassiter (Timothy Omundson) to all have more screen time.

Psych 4 as well as 5 and 6, are necessary for the fans who love the dynamic duo of Shawn and Gus and their supporting loved ones. These team players bring something special when they are together that has not been matched by any television show since. Steve Frakes, you know what to do so get at it. Psych-O's don't forget that all 122 episodes of the original series can be streamed on Peacock.
