Beautiful couple

Prince Phillip the Duke of Edinburgh has died at age 99. There were plans underway for his 100th birthday but he did not make it. Let's take a look at his life through just a few of the photos that were taken of him over the decades. Phillip and Elizabeth were distant cousins who met when they were very young and married in 1947. Phillip was the longest serving member of the Royal family until he stepped down from his official duties in 2017.

The Duke and his Queen were a handsome couple and clearly very much in love. They set an example of longevity in marriage but none of their heirs has yet been able to follow their example.

The dashing military officer has been known over the decades to say things that were considered to be racist against numerous ethnic groups. He has put his foot in his mouth many times including when he told his grandson, Prince Harry, that you "date" actresses but do not marry them." It's obvious that the Duke of Sussex did not listen to this bit of advice.

Queen Elizabeth II and her husband have grown old gracefully together and have many photos to prove it. Prince Phillip remained active in Royal duties until 2017 at age 95. He even continued driving for a few more years until he caused an accident.

Prince Phillip was an attractive young man and when you look closely you can see the resemblance to Prince Charles, Prince Andrew, Prince William, and Prince Harry. That is quite a legacy to leave a bit of himself in his sons and also his grandsons.

The Queen and her husband looked so happy on their wedding day and were no doubt eager for the honeymoon. The Duke continued to smile and show himself to have a sense of humor even as he aged.

The resemblance to Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex is uncanny and should dispel rumors that Harry is not of the House of Windsor.

Prince Phillip and his grandsons are as dashing as Queen Elizabeth, Meghan, and Kate are beautiful. How sad that they all could not simply just get along. It is being reported that Prince Harry will return to England for the funeral service of his grandfather. His wife Meghan Markle who is pregnant with their second child will remain behind in America.

The love these two shared continued for 74 years and that is impressive. Perhaps had Charles been allowed to marry Camilla when he first desired to do so, they might have had a long and happy union as well.

Queen Elizabeth II and her husband have always been very photogenic and the camera loves them. Some are wondering if the Queen will be able to maintain now that her spouse of 7 decades has passed on. There are couples who have been married for decades who die within moments, days, or weeks of each other. The Queen is strong and will no doubt persevere.

Before social media where people share their every thought and image, the Royal family and those who marry into it had to endure their every moment being caught on camera. Some people marvel at the fact that Queen Elizabeth did not believe Camilla was suitable to marry her son. Now they are all together and appearing like one big happy family.

Now that her husband has passed away will Queen Elizabeth II step down and allow her son Prince Charles to ascend to the throne? How nice it would have been if Prince Phillip could have seen his son as the ruling monarch prior to his death. This did not happen and some Royal watchers believe that William will take over as ruler and that Charles will never be king. Should Charles take his place as ruler of Britain his wife will no longer be the Duchess of Cornwall but will be called Princess Consort. Time will tell all and in the meantime condolences to the family of Phillip Mountbatten, the former Duke of Edinburgh.
