Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Baby on Family Christmas Card

What a beautiful family! Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex share the first photo of their six-month-old daughter Lilibet on their official 2021 Christmas card. They waited to share the photo with the public of their new addition until now.

The Duke and Duchess used their Christmas card as a way of including the first photo of their baby girl in their holiday message. It would have seemed odd for the little one to be left out especially since the couple is excited to have her in the family.

About the Photo

The never-before-seen image of Lilibet 'Lili' Diana Mountbatten-Windsornew is included with her family as she celebrates her very first Christmas.

The Christmas card shows the family of four. Prince Harry is holding on his knee the couple's first child, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor while Meghan lifts Lili into the air. All are looking up at the new baby with smiles on their faces. Lili is looking down and laughing.

Harry, Archie, and Meghan are all wearing jeans. Notice that Archie is wearing long pants. Prince William's sons are often pictured in shorts because it's a royal tradition for boys to wear only shorts until they turn eight years old in England. They almost never wear trousers and especially not jeans.

Harry is wearing ripped jeans but not Meghan. Archie and Lili are wearing white which makes them stand out in the photo. Harry, Archie, and Lili are not wearing shoes. but Meghan is wearing a pair of beige flats. As you can clearly see, the children have red hair and a complexion like their father.

The inscription on the card reads:

"This year, 2021, we welcomed our daughter, Lilibet, to the world. Archie made us a 'Mama' and a 'Papa,' and Lili made us a family."

Following the personal note, the couple used the platform to highlight some of their charities that are dear to their hearts. One charity is to assist refugee relocation and other charities include organizations that advocate for paid parental leave.

The Christmas card also included the greeting:

"Wishing you a happy holiday season and a prosperous New Year, from our family to yours! As ever, Harry, Meghan, Archie, and Lili."

There is no Christmas tree or any Christmas decorations visible because the photo was actually taken last summer at the couple’s home in Santa Barbara, California.

About the Newest Member of the Family

The second child and first daughter of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle was born on Friday, June 4, 2021, at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, California. She weighed in at 7 lbs. and 11 oz. At the time, Archie was two years old and adjusted quickly to his new sister.

Lili is named after her great-grandmother, Her Majesty The Queen whose name is Elizabeth, but her friends call her Lilibet. The baby's middle name is Diana to honor her late grandmother Princess Diana.

Lili is the second child of Prince Harry, the fifth grandchild of Prince Charles, and the eleventh great-grandchild of Queen Elizabeth.

Who Was the Photographer?

The picture was taken by photographer Alexi Lubomirski who is also a Polish prince. Lubomirski is no stranger to photographing Prince Harry, 37, and his wife, 40. That's because he was the photographer who took the couple's official engagement and wedding photos.

Alex was so proud of taking the family portrait that he shared it on his Instagram page with comments about his experience of taking photos of the Sussexes. He stated:

"This is one of those rare and special projects, that one is fortunate enough to be a part of. To be able to continue the story of this family whom I first photographed as an engaged couple, then on the day of their wedding, as a married couple and now seeing their love manifest into two beautiful children, has been a delightful honor."

Reactions About the Photo

People who have seen the Christmas card with the photo have said positive things about it. They were delighted to see the first photo of Lili, the newest member of the family of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
