Pedro Pascal Debunks Rumors That There Was BTS Drama During The Filming Of Season 2 On 'The Mandalorian'

Pedro Pascal’s star has been on the rise over the past several years with his popular roles on HBO’s Game Of Thrones, Netflix’s Narco, and now with his starring role in the popular Disney Plus series The Mandalorian. As most who follow entertainment news know, rumors and gossip follow big stars around like an overused meme on a Facebook feed. So it’s no surprise that a not-so-nice rumor regarding his behavior on the set of The Mandalorian has been following Pascal around for a few months now.

This rumor started circulating about a month before The Mandalorian’s season two debut claiming that Pedro Pascal became difficult on set after being denied a request by show producers to film more scenes with Din Djarin’s helmet off. According to the rumor, after having his request denied, Pascal went over the producers’ heads and went straight to LucasFilm executives with his complaint. Once show producers found out Pascal went over their heads to LucasFilm, they allegedly told Pascal to leave the production halfway through filming.

Where did this rumor originate? In her September 15, 2020 video, Youtuber Grace Randolph (Beyond The Trailer) stated she had sources claiming that Pascal and The Mandalorian producers had a falling out. Randolph also went on to speculate that since fewer scenes were filmed with Pascal’s character, the show’s producers used Dave Filoni’s characters from Star Wars: The Clone Wars, such as Bo-Katan and Ahsoka, to fill in storyline gaps. Then the producers allegedly sprinkled in the already filmed Pedro Pascal scenes to complete season two’s episodes.

A big reason this unsubstantiated rumor grew legs is that Pascal has a body double that fills in for the star and it is commonly known that Pascal missed some filming in season one due to schedule conflicts for the movie he was shooting, Wonder Woman 84. Seeing how the producers could easily film Mando scenes without Pedro being present, it is understandable how easy a rumor like this could spread into the internet’s far-reaching rumor mill.

Now to address the debunking of this rumor we look to Pedro Pascal himself. On December 15, 2020, Pascal made an appearance on BBC’s The One Show to promote his new movie, Wonder Woman 84.

During the interview, Host Alex Jones asked Pascal,

“You’ve said apparently, that you want to have your helmet off in future Mandalorian episodes, is that true?”

Pascal, seemingly stunned by this question, answered by saying, “That is not true, actually. It’s a really wonderful way of telling the story. It’s always been a very clear creed for the character. The collaborative process of the whole thing has been…we’ve all been on the same page with this. So what I want is for them to make the best show possible, however they get that done.”

Ok, so you want more than Pedro’s own words to get that satisfying debunked feeling? How about a quote from Jon Favreau? Does that do anything for ya? I thought it might.

In an article from Variety posted on October 15, 2020, Jon Favreau is quoted as saying that season three would start filming before the end of 2020 once Pascal returns from Europe shooting a film with Nicolas Cage titled The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent.

With Favreau reporting all is well before season two even aired and with season three production being on track, it is safe to say that the rumors of Pascal falling out with producers is a bit far fetched. As of right now, there have been no official reports of any problems from the set of The Mandalorian or of any issues between Pascal and producers.
