Anything can happen. So, let’s see what happens today on repeated day #100.

Palm Springs is a 2020 Hulu film. After a meeting gone wrong, Sarah follows Nyles into a mysterious cave. Cursed to relive her sister’s wedding day over and over, they live it up doing whatever they please. Continuously repeating the same day also gives them the chance to think about life.

Just when you think that no other ideas could be invented where one relives the same day over and over, movies surprise you. Palm Springs is an entertaining, hilarious, and poignant story. Never forget to live life to the fullest - even when you are trapped in a time warp.

I am surprised that I have not watched Andy Samberg in more films. His nomination at this year’s Golden Globes is well-deserved. Nyles has been trapped in this endless time loop for who knows how long. Other than having the advantage to do whatever he pleases, Nyles is still optimistic. I like what Samberg did with the character. His humor was the best!

Since Samberg received a nomination why didn’t Cristin Milioti get one, too? She was spectacular! Sarah is a complex person who feels unappreciated. Milioti did a great job connecting to this character. Her emotional performance was a notable highlight. No matter what mistakes we execute we can always pick ourselves up and make it better.

Accidentally following Nyles into this curse, Sarah and Nyles explore an unlikely friendship. You never know who you could become friends with. The idea to split between perspectives for some scenes was a great idea. Films should spend more time with the perspective of other characters and not just the protagonist. That’s boring.

I liked the conversations between Nyles and Sarah. The chemistry between Samberg and Milioti is what makes Palm Springs memorable. They worked well together, particularly when they had a heated argument. The writers did an excellent job with the dialogue. Conversations can be about anything.

Ensemble members have an important duty. Credits include J.K. Simmons, Peter Gallagher, Meredith Hagner, Camila Mendes, Tyler Hoechlin, and many more. Interactions are one of the essential parts of getting to know Nyles and Sarah’s characters. I didn’t realize how much I would enjoy Simmons (Roy) and his subplot with Nyles.

It doesn’t matter how many times you do a scene. The cast had a fun time reworking scenes with different reactions. The moral of Palm Springs is definitive. You never know what a person’s story is until getting to know them. You have to know the whole package.

What makes Palm Springs complex from other media of related themes, is the story. Max Barbakow explored different concepts. Of all the scenarios that you could take to the extreme and take advantage of logic, Barbakow does not do that. His risk-taking attitude was a notable feature in his direction for Palm Springs.

I couldn’t think of a better way to begin Palm Springs. Subtlety is mastered. I have to go back and watch the film a second time because there are blink and you miss it moments. Palm Springs is an original film. It commits to this time loop concept, coming up with refreshing ideas. Honestly, I would watch it over and over.

Be prepared to laugh. Palm Springs is hilarious. The jokes and humor may not be for everybody. And there is dark humor, too. That’s what Palm Springs is all about.

You have to see Palm Springs on Hulu. It is a clever film. I was laughing so hard. I wish it the best at the Golden Globes.
