What makes media so great?

What components does media, such as movies and Tv shows need in order to be able to capture the audience now in days?

In case, you have not noticed—Now in days, it is quite hard to get people attention, especially when it comes to movies and Tv shows. Individuals in society do not get the same excitement from them. I have experienced this myself; it is quite disappointing.

I hear individuals tell me all the time, “Oh no! that show did not live to my expectations,” “Oh no! do not watch that show,” “No, I stopped watching it—it was not good.” Ironically though, even I have said those things to people that have asked about Tv shows and movies—I have observed it in my own behavior.

Those comments have made me reflect on what the main component must be. That component that does attract individuals to not just only actually watch a Tv show or a movie, but also, to finish it. And, I have got to the conclusion that the main element to capture the audience that is out there in the society—it is the for the movie or Tv show to be unpredictable, unexpected—to be unforeseen.

See, must Tv shows, and movies are too predictable which makes them boring to watch because there is the lack of excitement—that element of surprise is long gone which makes it unbearable to finish it. I believe this is because must individuals in society are already living a monotony in their own lives—that obviously, they are trying to escape this by connecting with media, such as Tv shows and movies, but once they get on it, it is as dull and monotonous as their own reality.

I personally believe that when a Tv shows, or movies have that element of surprise—it becomes irresistible to watch it because it makes you entertained by making you think on all the possible endings, and also, all the reasons on why the things or actions are happening the way that they are happening. You have to pay some sort of attention to the details that are not so obvious to our first general view, yet they are important due to that element of surprise—that twist that the audience is not expecting, but they think that they have figured it out.

See, it is some sort of competition—to see if one has gotten it right. To see, if you are correct based on what you are watching, and I believe this is due to the ego that all individuals have, everyone wants to be correct, everyone wants to be right—which it is the reason why individuals keep watching a good movie because they are entertained by it due all the collaborating that they are doing.

I personally have seen how many people get bored and change a movie or stop a Tv show and change it for another one within the first couple minutes due to the weak beginning that has, or due to the lack of excitement that presents to the public within the first minutes.

Individuals in society now in days do not like to wait for the excitement to get to them after a long period of time of waiting for it…, A.K.A, thirty minutes. You do not get the public attention like that anymore, people have lost that element of patience—they want what they want, when they want it, and most importantly, how they want it.

Which it is the reason why a strong powerful excited beginning it is the way to captures today’s audience attention, and to keep them guessing with unpredictable unforeseen action, for they look for the excitement that their lives are lacking due to the monotony of life.
