“FULL THROTTLE DARK,” Part Three

Know the signs: black gums, gnarled bones, and haunting yellow eyes. When you spot a human shade out there in the endless night...run.

I’m loving this series as we see people turning into the darkness from regular folks, first her folks and now her brother has been turning despite their best efforts to prolong him from losing his humanity. That she has these safe spaces that are setup that are full of lights is superb to see as they are creative and innovative. The opening is great and to see as we need to see more of them when this all started and the impact it had on the siblings and how their parents were through it all. I think Scott is doing some incredibly stellar writing here and you can tell this is a passion project of his by the way the story exudes emotions and feeling from the page to the readers hands then into their bones. This is the Scott I want to read because the story is infectious to read.

I am a huge fan of the way that this is being told. The story & plot development that we see through how the sequence of events unfold as well as how the reader learns information is presented perfectly. The way we see things happen and the amount of information that we get is just enough to give us the illusion of answers as well as impart that desire to know and see more. It is really extremely well done to the point where I’m completely and utterly impressed. The character development that we see is sensational. The dialogue, character interaction and the way we see them act and react to the situations and circumstances they encounter help to flesh them out even further. The pacing is superb and as it takes us through the pages revealing the twists & turns along the way brings us this great action.

How we see this being structured and how the layers within the story are growing, strengthening and ever evolving really bring some wonderful intrigue and interest factors to the table. How we see everything working together to create the story’s ebb & flow as well as how it moves the story forward is achieved extremely well.

I am absolutely loving the interiors here. The linework we see with its varying weights and techniques being utilised to bring out this level and quality of detail in the work is so astoundingly beautiful. That we see backgrounds being utilised as we do and how they bring us this depth perception, sense of scale and the overall sense of size and scope to the story is beautifully rendered. The utilisation of the page layouts and how we see the angles and perspective in the panels show a masters eye for storytelling. The colour work is gorgeous! How we see the various hues and tones within the colours being utilised to create the shading, highlights and shadow work showcases such a gorgeous eye for how colour works.

This really is a high octane adventure series that moves quickly and doesn’t seem to know how to slow down. Heck even the downtime moments are filled with story moving things forward and into different directions than the characters may want or expect to see. That these gents are able to keep us on our toes as much as the characters in the story on theirs is something we’ve never really experienced before and I have to say it’s just another in a long list of reasons why this book is so gosh darn good.

You aren’t going to find something more electrifying for the reader to experience than this, it’s one of today’s strongest and most innovative storytelling around.
