My thoughts on Roseanne

an opinion

By Revista Miko:XCI Published 13 days ago • 3 min read

The series Roseanne really jumped the shark. After a few seasons of the show that represented nostalgia and the 80’s. John Goodman who starred as the iconic Dan Conner and patriarch of the Conner family saved the show for me. Unfortunately, the series is depressing and soul draining at best and energy draining. I know that the show is about a blue collar and working class family in the Midwest but still with too much of a slice of life can become depressing because the message that that sends is that nothing is going to get better and there is nothing that you can do make things better you can try but you’re screwed.

Now please keep this in mind I am not saying that there are not episodes I liked through the series but still I am saying that this show is not for me but it was the only thing that was on and I am not using that as an excuse. I do like the seasons that they had done in the 80’s the era of excess. Now from those seasons I would like to talk about my favourite episodes from the 1980’s seasons if I may.

There is the episode where Roseanne and Dan enter into a song writing contest, they don’t win however but the song that they entered was a very nice song. Another episode that I like was the one where the Conners are having a nice Sunday and then some salesman comes to the door and Roseanne lets him in but then he drops dead at the table. It gets funnier when the Conners have a washing machine that they’re selling and the Conners have to hide the body and not tell the people that he is a dead guy that is a relative who fell asleep at their table.

Dan Conner is one of my favourite television dads he is up there along side that of Al Bundy and Ricky Ricardo. Due to the fact that these episodes come from the 1980’s that I like are the ones where the family spends Saturday at the mall doing stuff that people in the 80’s usually did at the mall in the decade. I also enjoy the Halloween episodes from the 80's.

Well at least Tim Curry was on Roseanne in the mid 90’s so that saved the show for only a few episodes. Tim Curry is actually one of my favourite actors. I love the Roseanne theme song is so deliciously working class. I have mixed feelings regarding this show but I guess you could say that I have a love hate relationship with this show and you would be correct to assume that. I just want to give this show a full review and a critique of this show so that is why I am giving this show what I am giving.

This is my article site and I can write about anything that I choose to write about. Blues Traveler did the theme song as the series went on in years in the mid 90’s and I must confess that the song that they came up with actually is fitting to what the show was about. My mother absolutely loved this show when it officially came on the air in the 80’s. I almost forgot another episode that I like a lot is when the family has to pay their taxes but however this episode was from when the show reached the early 90’s. Another episode that I like is the episode where oldest daughter Becky passes gas in front of her highschool student body.
