My Review of "Jerry Seinfeld: 24 Hours to Kill"

Does Seinfeld still have his comedic chops at the age of 66? Uh yeah!

Jerry Seinfeld: 24 Hours to Kill was kind of a shock because I haven't seen a Jerry Seinfeld comedy special in a long time. I remember loving his comedy back in the day. His jokes were always clean and very observational. Obviously I was curious to see what he would have to say about life today. The comedy now has changed so much, I wasn't sure how well he would do.

This special started with a lot of very good observations about how we all deal with events. It's very smart because it's so true. Everything he talked about concerning our friends and how we behave during our everyday lives with our friends. His timing is absolutely impeccable. He doesn't seem to have missed a beat from his early days of stand-up.

With his timing he also plays a lot with the inflection of his voice. He times his exaggerations very well and knows exactly when to emphasize his punchlines.

I found that the transitions of his jokes were really well done. The jokes seemed to flow from one to another seamlessly. Thinking about how he seamlessly transitioned all of those jokes was crazy to me. Usually when I hear other comics do stand-up they usually have a weird pause so that they can go on to another joke or story. Seinfeld doesn't really have this in this stand-up.

I love how pragmatic his jokes are as well. He has an observation of life to see how we go out of our way to do ridiculous things that we don't really have to. Seinfeld seems to spot all of these unnecessary situations we get ourselves into. I had to look at my own life and realize that yeah he's absolutely right.

You'd think with his successful life he wouldn't be able to set up jokes that were relatable anymore. Instead he goes back to basics in our lives like going to restaurants, hanging out with friends and relationships.

The part that really got to me was the relationship jokes. I couldn't believe how well he dissected a lot of the intricacies of long term relationships that men experience. I related to a ton of the jokes that he made. The funny thing was I never thought of what he was talking about before until then. It really got to me because I realized I wasn't the only person to experience this. People in the crowd were laughing as well and the fact he made the jokes meant that he's experienced it as well.

There were a few moments where he would ad lib with reactions from the audience as well. It was funny how he was able to riff off of them so effortlessly. It just goes to show you how seasoned he is as a comedian to be able to do this.

I originally thought that the jokes wouldn't be as impactful since he only has clean jokes. Today almost all the comedians talk about vulgar situations concerning sex, drug abuse, and some sort of oppression. It's actually nice to have a comic not go to those subjects. I like the fact that it's different from the rest of the pack. Then again Seinfeld has always been an original comic with his own style.

The world is a new world since Seinfeld's last comedy special. It was genuinely nice to hear what his perspective. I love it when a comic can look at something simple as cell phones and comes up with hundreds of jokes that makes me feel like I should have thought of that. He does this a lot and it reminds me of how smart Seinfeld is as a comic.

Overall, I really enjoyed this comedy special. It's a breathe of fresh air from all of the vulgar comedy that we're used to nowadays. I loved his observations and hope that he makes more comedy specials. He's a master at his craft and it shows. I have to give this special an 9 out of 10. I will be recommending this comedy special to all of my friends and I hope they check it out!
