Borhan Khademi, a week ago: I decided to switch things up and watch a different type of movie than my usual fare, so I turned to my Plex watchlist and selected The Invitation.

This movie tells the story of Evie, a young woman who comes from humble beginnings, and her journey. The movie turned out to be a refreshing break from the norm.

Matthew J. Barnette, 5 months ago: The trailers for the movie had me excited, as they successfully conveyed the film's unique atmosphere and tone, as well as its different take on Dracula's story.

However, I found the movie to be neither completely enjoyable nor entirely unenjoyable. It definitely had the right ambiance, but it fell short in certain areas.

Shyann Wright, a month ago: As a fan of vampire movies, ranging from Van Helsing to Twilight, I found this movie to be a disappointment.

It lacked a clear understanding of its audience and had several layers that need to be unpacked, including contradictions in the plot. The protagonist's worship of the very creature she is trying to destroy is just one example.

Thoko Namangale, 5 months ago: I was excited to see this movie because of the lead actors, Nathalie Emmanuel and Thomas Doherty, who are known for playing supporting roles in other movies and TV shows. The movie started off dark, which is not uncommon for recent horror movies. Although it could have been better, it's not bad overall.

Carine Choker, 3 weeks ago: The movie had a few factors that contributed to its average rating of 3/5. The cinematography, aesthetic, and costumes were all top-notch, and the moodiness of the scenes made it very enjoyable. However, if the movie was to be judged solely on these aspects, it would have received a higher rating.

Daniel Trinka Jr, a month ago: The Invitation, which I saw in theaters in 2022, had amazing cinematography and imagery, with perfect color grading. That was the best part of the movie for me. However, the attempt to include backstory seemed like a waste of time, as it wasn't connected to the story enough.

Robert James, a month ago: Evie and Victoria were the highlights of this Hammer-style horror movie.

They were not only beautiful, but also excellent performers who saved the film. Walter was a disappointment, and only Peter Cushing could have played the role of Van Helsing and rescued the stunning Evie from this family.

Isabel Dempsey, 5 months ago: I went to the cinema with a friend and we chose a movie we hadn't seen or heard of before, which turned out to be this one. The beginning was good and all the characters were likable, but it didn't live up to expectations. It seemed to lack direction and purpose.

Nicklas Denner, 2 weeks ago: The movie was not bad as far as vampire movies go, and I appreciated its old-school approach to vampires and history in modern times.

The alluring and dark atmosphere was also well-executed. However, there were a few missed opportunities to make it even better.

Bryan Simms, a month ago: This movie had some good things going for it. The cinematography was stunning, and the stylistic nods to the genre classics were spot-on. The wardrobe and the art direction were also noteworthy. However, it was not entirely enjoyable and fell short in certain areas.

Me Too, 5 months ago: This movie deserves more credit than it's getting. If I could give half stars, I would rate it 3.5. Fans of real vampires and Dracula's story should

The only thing that could have been better is, they could have explored the origins of the vampires and their history a bit more. Otherwise, this is an excellent piece of horror cinema. It's unpredictable, it has twists, and it keeps you engaged from start to finish.

Nathalie Emmanuel and Thomas Doherty are outstanding in their roles, and they do an excellent job of luring the audience into the demonic domain. If you're a horror fan, this is one film that you won't want to miss.

My friend and I went to the cinema and picked whatever movie we hadn’t seen or heard of, and this was it. I hadn’t even seen an advert for it previously and just thought a good horror would be a fun way to end the evening.

It started out quite decently, and I found all of the characters to be likable and well-acted. Unfortunately, as it went on, the plot became more and more convoluted and nonsensical. The pacing was all over the place, and it became a slog to sit through. I can't recommend this one, unfortunately.

This isn't a bad vampire movie, but it could have been better. First off, I liked how it had more of the old-school feeling of the original idea of vampires and the history in modern times.

Not only did they get away from this new-age version of vampires, but they also attempted to bring back the alluring dark history of vampires. However, some of the plot twists didn't quite land, and the pacing was uneven. Overall, I'd say it's worth a watch if you're a fan of the genre.

This movie does some things very well. First of all, the cinematography is gorgeous. The color palettes that are used to set the tone from scene to scene are spot on. The stylistic nods to the genre classics are perfectly executed from beginning to end. Wardrobe is another strong point, with each character's clothing effectively communicating their personality.

However, despite all this, the movie falls short due to its weak script. The characters are not particularly interesting, and the plot is predictable and not particularly engaging. Overall, while it's not a bad film, it's not particularly memorable either.

I feel like a lot of reviews aren't giving this movie due credit, even though I wish I could give half stars, because I would have rated it 3.5 in that case. Basically, if you're a fan of "real" vampires and especially of the Dracula story, you should give this a watch because it is literally a modern version of the story. It's not perfect, but it's also not trying to be. It's a fun horror movie with a bit of mystery and some great acting.

See, the movie was alright, but most of the main characters in these types of movies are all the same. Like, let’s be realistic: she would’ve had it SO good if she went along with the whole thing.

As far as I know, the only time they would’ve hurt her was at the wedding. I want to see a vampire movie where the protagonist falls in love with the vampire and they go on a killing spree together. Now THAT would be interesting. All in all, it was an okay movie, but it didn't do much for me.
