From my perspective I think that Midnight Sun is a very nice and creative book. It teaches you that you can follow your dreams even if you can’t do it, there is always a way. If you don’t follow your dreams you won’t succeed, and then you won't find a way.

Chapter 1-7 pages 14-67

In the book, Katie the {main actor} has this rare disease that makes exposure to even the smallest sunlight deadly. So she is not able to go outside even for a second. She is only able to go in the evening where there is no sun. So she is not able to go to public school so instead she is homeschooled. Katie has only one friend, her “best friend” Morgan. Morgan aways supports Katie as much as she can, and she always keeps Katie company. Morgan does things with Katie as much as she can. In the first chapter she doesn't know what to do in her life, she tries to talk with Morgan about what she should do when she leaves for college if they find a cure for her, since she has the disease, she might be homeschooled for her whole life. When she was small Katie would always hang out with her mom, she loved her mom very much. She would go everywhere her mom went. Katie did not have the disease when she was small. After her mom died Katie had the disease, when Katie's mom died her dad was worried about Katie, He didn't know what to do. Since Katie's mom died, He started to care for Katie. He didn't allow Katie to go out or play with anyone except Morgan. She could only come over and Katie was only allowed to go to Morgan's house and nowhere else. So when there was a party Katie could not go, so Morgan went by herself. Katie would always look out her window, she saw Charlie day and night going to his swimming lessons and practices. She always had feelings for him, but she didn't know when she would meet him or if she would ever see him.

Katie graduates from high school, she always hoped she would go to prom with Morgan, but since she has the disease she is not able to go. For her grade her dad got her a guitar, {her mom’s guitar}, she was so happy. When it was evening she asked her dad if she could go to the train station to play her guitar, her dad was not sure about it. Before he could answer she told her dad that she was not a child anymore and didn't need his supervision. He smiled then said that she could go. She couldn't believe it, She was finally free. Before she left, her dad told her that his friend, who works at the train station, would look after her, she couldn't say anything else so she said “ok”. When she got to the train station she sat on a bench and took her guitar out and also her notebook. She started to play, trains were passing by, some people were listening, others were going in the train. A little boy was walking with his mother, he stopped and looked at Katie. He seemed entranced by her song. After she was finished he clapped his little hands. Katie asked what his name was and he said “ Tommy”. He told Katie that he was going to take the train. He asked Katie if she was going to take the train but she said that she was just playing. He asked why she was playing so late. She couldn't tell him that she had the diseases, she would have scared him. So she just said that she couldn't go out in the sun. The boy asked if she was a vampire, Katie just laughed and said she wished. The boy told her that he was allergic to strawberries and he got a runny nose and hives. Katie told him that it sucked to have a runny nose and hives. Then Katie told him that she had a song for him about his allergies. She sang the song for him, after she finished the little boy just smiled. His mother wasn't paying attention, she was just on her phone typing something. Then his mom took the boy's hand and ushered him away. The boy turns around and waves goodbye with a big smile on his face.

Chapter 7-13 pages 67-137

In the pages 67-137, Katie opens her trusty notebook-full of the lyrics and chords to songs she wrote. She flips to the page where she has scribbled the latest. She takes a deep breath and goes for it. After a false start, she goes again and everything’s working. Her voice weaves through the music and she got totally lost in the moment. For the time being, it didn't matter that she was singing to herself, that she has this rotten disease and that she is not at a wild crazy graduation party like she should be in right now. When she looks up from the frets of her guitar, it's like the apocalypse has happened, because life will never be the same. Charlie Reed is standing right infront of her. Watching her like he’s actually interested. Katie saw him and didn't know what to do so, she started put her guitar back in the case when her skittles fell out and landed on the ground he picked the bag of skittles and handed it to Katie, She took the skittles and started to walk of when charlie yelled “where are you going”, Katie responded, “home”. Now that the case is locked up tight, she will try to ascap as fast as she can. She couldn't possibly talk to him. Because when she talked her words would mix up together to be gibberish. But when she started to walk faster the case flipped open and the guitar almost fell when charlie grabbed it her mother's guitar just in time. He places it gently back inside the case and closes it tightly. Then he picks up the skittles for a second time and hands both the case and the candy back to Katie. After their romantic moment, she had to lie to him and tell him that her cat died, but in reality she does not have a cat. He was uncertain about what she said to him. Katie broke into a run, in the back Charlie was yelling, “what is your name”. Katie didn't answer, If he finds out, she will never be able to deny she was the crazy girl talking about her fake dead cat the first time she met him. So she just kept on going. It's only after she got safely home, done exaggerating to her dad about how she completely killed it at the train station, she neatly tucked herself into bed that the regrets started to come fast and furious. How could she have blown her chance with Charlie Reed so completely?

Welcome to the most embarrassing part of her life. The next day Morgan came to Katie’s house. She wanted to know what Katie was up to. When Morgan heard what Katie told her last night she was very excited. Mogan knew that someday she would find someone she would like. After a couple of days Katie started to go out in the evenings and sometimes see Charlie. They would always talk about different things, but she wouldn't tell him that she had the disease. She thought if she told him, he wouldn’t like her anymore, so she kept quiet. Morgan always tells her that she should tell him. But Katie is too scared, when there was a graduation party Katie asked her dad if she could go, he wasn't sure since she never went far from their house. She told him that it was once in her life and that she should get a chance. When her dad said yes she was so excited, she didn't know what to do. She thanked her dad, then they ran upstairs to change and get ready for the party. When they were ready Katie's dad saw Katie and she reminded him about Katie's mom. He was very impressed, Katie wore a dress and Morgan wore jeans and a nice shirt. When they were at Morgan's friend’s party, Katie felt uncomfortable because they were drinking but she didn't care, as long as she is with Charlie and Morgan she is safe. After a while Charlie asked Katie if she wanted to go to zoe’s party instead since the party they were in was getting boring, She didn't want to go because zoe was a bully to her when she was small, she would call her names like { vampire} since she can’t go out in the mornings. But she didn't want to upset him since it was their first date, so they went to Zoe's house. When they went there Katie saw her mansion and her expensive car, she knew that Zoe would recognize her. But when Zoe opened the door she saw Charlie and another girl that she didn't recognize, the girl was Katie, she couldn't recognize her because of her makeup. When they entered the room Katie was surprised when she saw the kitchen and the room, the house was so big. She had a lot of stuff in the house. Charlie asked her to play pull, so Katie went with him. Zoe was jealous of Katie but Zoe didn't know who Katie was. But then she started to notice, a couple hours later. When it was dancing time she came up to Katie and asked if she was the vampire, from school. Katie felt embarrassed, she was going to say something but Charlie started to laugh and he thought that Zoe was kidding. Katie ignored her and started to dance with Charlie.

13-25 137-255

In the next chapter Charlie and Katie go outside and talk, Charlie tells Katie that he couldn't go swimming because he hurt his shoulder and that he was kicked out of swimming. So Kate thinks about what she could do for him. The next day charlie had to meet Katie's dad, after they finished talking, charlie asked Katie's dad if he could take katie on a special date, her dad said yes and so Charlie took Katie to the train station and they took the train to Seattle, he wanted to surprise her with her favorite band. When they got there, she was so happy she never was so far from home. She was enlightened to see the band, she almost left when she saw them. She couldn't believe that he paid his college money for this. After the band he asked her if she could play the song that she was working on, the song was called Charlie. Katie said no because she was too shy to play in front of the crowd, but he said it was her turn to pay him back for the band. So she started to play and some people were passing by while others stopped to listen to her, while she was playing he started to record her play. When she finished everybody was clapping. She felt very good, after her playing they went to look around before they returned back. They took the train back, before she went home she asked him if he wanted to go to the beach. When they were at the beach she told him that he should go for a swim, he said to her that the water was cold since it was evening. She told him that they can either have come all the way to the beach under the stars and they don't go swimming, or they can jump into the water and keep having the best night of their lives. She started to undress but left her underwear on and her bra, she went in the water so Charlie came running after her. Katie told him that he could start swimming now, since he broke his shoulder. While they were in the water Charlie asked Katie if she wanted to go with him to see the sunset, Katie just nodded yes. After the swim she changed and went into Charlie's truck when he started to drive, she asked what time it was Charlie didn't know, she checked on her watch, she noticed it was wet from swimming and forgot to take it off. She started to panic. She asked Charlie what time it was again, he checked on his phone and told her that it was after four fifty. They were still far from Katie’s house. Katie told him to stop driving and she ran as fast as she could. Charlie was confused and he didn't know what was happening. He drove to her and told her to get back in the truck, so she did. She told him to drive as fast as he could. Before they could reach her house the sunrise was coming up, she started to worry. She jumped out of the truck and headed for the door, she bagned on the door as hard as she could. There was no answer; she knew that her dad was asleep. The rays of the sun touched her skin and she started to cry, Morgan came with the car and ran to Katie. She went to hug Katie. Katie's dad opened the front door and Katie ran in. Morgan looked at Charlie and started to scream at his face. She told him why he took her for a long time and she told him that she had a sickness. Charlie just stood there and didn't know what to do, she started to cry too. She ran inside the house, her dad was so upset but he went to hug Katie. He went to call the doctor for help if Katie would survive. When the lady came and checked on Katie, she said that everything was ok and asked her to come the next day. When the day came she went to the doctor and checked her skin and heart and everything else. The doctor said she was fine, but Katie was trembling. She was so scared, she didn't want to see Charlie because she thought that he would never like her anymore. After the doctor Katie went home still trembling, right away she went to her bedroom to sleep. When she woke up she went down stairs and saw Morgan and her dad, she sat right beside Morgan. Her dad asked her if she wanted chinese food and she said yes, Katie and morgan were talking to each other, meanwhile her dad called charlie to get chinese food and drop by to talk to Katie. When he knocked on the door Katie ran up to it and opened the door, but right away she shut it. Katie asked why he invited Charlie and her dad said that having someone to share your life with is the best part. She told him that she can’t see Charlie or could she? Her dad said to go and talk to him, when she went out she saw Charlie standing there with two bags from hunan chinese. After a moment, he says “Dinner is served?” and they both laugh a little. She said that she was sorry that she didn't tell him, and then she started to tell him her break up speech which was totally awkward and so not professional. He just sat there staring at Katie, then he started to laugh. He told her that it was the worst break up speech that he ever heard since she didn't know what to say and how to say it. She was confused, Charlie stood up and said to her “Katie, you can either have spent the past few weeks changing my life and becoming my favorite person only to leave me standing on your lawn like a chump, or we can keep making this the best summer of our lives.” She thought that he was crazy. He told her that he did his research and he knew now what XP was. After their talk they went inside to eat. The next day she asked her dad if she could go to Charlie swimming competition. Her dad said yes and they went in the car, she wore a black hoodie that covered her face from light and wore long pants. The windows in the car were covered too. When they reached the place they went to find seats, they saw Charlie's mom and dad. They waited for Charlie to come out, when they saw him everybody cheered. Charlie won the competition, Katie knew that he would win. When they were heading to their car Charlie's parents came to them and thanked them for coming and for their hospitality. When they came home she went straight to bed. The next day Charlie came to pick up Katie and they went on a date. This time they went to Morgan's ice cream shop, they had so much fun talking about different things. When she got home there was a call from the doctor that Katie was not well and that she would die if they didn't find the right treatment for her. Katie knew that she would die soon, later that day Morgan came to see Katie how she was. Katie wanted to see the sunset with Charlie before she was gone. Charlie came running, he opened their door and told them to get the computer. There dad said the computer was on the table, he showed them a video of katie playing the guitar in seattle, it was on youtube and there was a lot of likes and there was one dislike, Katie wanted to see who it was but Morgan new that it was zoe so she told Katie not to open it, but Katie wanted to see it really bad, when she saw who it was she just smiled and said nothing. Charlie told Katie that he was sailing away for his new job, he said goodbye to Katie and headed out. Before he left Katie asked her dad if she could go with him to see the sunset before she dies. Her dad nodded, she ran outside to go with Charlie. They got there and they were on the boat. She was so happy to see the sun set as they sailed away.
