General Hospital rumor mill is in overdrive

The General Hospital rumor mill is currently working overtime regarding Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) and Wes Ramsey (ex-Petr August). Fans read the speculation and wonder what is true and what is projection. Allegedly Benard will soon retire from the ABC soap and Ramsey will return as another character but at this time there are no facts to back up either claim.

If you google these actors you will find quite a few articles with headlines that announce Benard is quitting acting and Ramsey is headed back to General Hospitial. When you read them they are vague and have no facts. Such stories are considered "clickbait" as they get you to read them and then do not deliver what was promised.

Maurice Benard: What he did not say

In April on his Clog State of Mind, Maurice answered viewers' questions and divulged how he felt about acting. He said that he loved what he is doing but did not feel the same way about his craft as he once did. He added that he would like it if he could retire and do his online blog for a living.

Benard was born on March 1 1963 which makes him 59 and he has been portraying Sonny since August of 1993. Benard is close to the age when some people but not all do decide to retire from their careers and he will soon have been portraying Sonny for 30 years.

The actor, however, did not say that he is actually retiring as some online sources have reported. This could change at any moment and perhaps he was preparing his fans for that day which may come sooner or later. As of this writing, Benard has not given an official statement that he is leaving General Hosptial.

Wes Ramsey's plight

General Hospital viewers hated Peter August and were glad to see him killed off. His reign of terror in Port Charles went on for far too long. Fans, however, loved Ramsey and began saying almost immediately they hope he might return.

Roger Howarth has portrayed Todd Manning, Franco Baldwin, and now Austin Holt on the ABC soap. Michael Easton came to General Hospital as John McBain, was later Silas Clay, and now it Hamilton Finn. Fans have been hoping that Ramsey would return as a character who would become a love interest for Laura Wright (Carly Corinthos) whom he is dating off-screen.

There are a number of articles indicating that the man who portrayed Peter August will be back in Port Charles as someone else. This is certainly a possibility but at this present time, neither Ramsey nor ABC has acknowledged this will become a reality.

Those who watch General Hospital don't want to see Benard leave and are saying they hope he sticks around for a long time. Fans also are excited about the possibility that Ramsey may return and begin dating his real-time girlfriend.

The future for Ramsey and Benard

On Tuesday's episode, Austin was talking to someone on the phone and the conversation was pretty intense. Some fans were saying that perhaps the unknown caller was Ramsey's new character. This could be true and General Hospital is keeping it under wraps but there is also the possibility that whoever Dr. Gatlin Holt was talking to is someone altogether different.

If Sonny's days in Port Charles are coming to an end Benard would probably share it on his VLog unless he was sworn to secrecy. He is open with his fans and would share as much as he could. Likewise, Ramsey will probably announce his next project unless he is required to keep silent on the matter.Be on the lookout for General Hospital updates related to both Wes Ramsey and Maurice Benard.
