Mark Hamill Has Joined TikTok, And It May Not Last That Long

TikTok is one of the biggest social media apps for people across the country and the globe. Mark Hamill is one of the greatest actors and beloved icon for people around the world. These two things may sound like polar opposites, but they have gotten closer than you might expect. Recently, Mark Hamill went on social media and informed fans of a fake TikTok account that was pretending to be him. Hamill wanted to warn fans that he was not on the app at that time. This is fairly common amongst celebrities and creators who have a large involved social media presence. They try to inform their fans of platforms they aren’t on or people posing as them in order to warn the fans of potential scams. However, Hamill’s stance appears to have changed, because he now has an official TikTok account.

@hamillhimself is the official TikTok account of everyone’s favorite blue milk-drinking Jedi. He has only posted two videos so far. His newest is a duet (a popular trend on the app) with creator @mark_kenobi.

His first and most popular video shows Hamill with his dog. He attempts to use his computer, and his dog adorably moves his hand back to her tummy for some good pets. Hamill then follows a new trend on the app by saying, “Tell me your dog is needy without telling me your dog is needy.” Then he tags the video with “#demandingdoggie” and solidifies that it is him by using the tag “#TheREALHamillHimself.”

The video has gotten roughly 3.6 million views and over 841 likes as of the writing of this article. Hamill is also nearing 700,000 followers after only posting for roughly two weeks, which is incredibly impressive. Hamill has always had a strong social media presence, and he is exceedingly interactive with it. He often provides funny anecdotes, great memories, and fun trivia from the projects he has been a part of. As far as I am concerned, seeing Mark Hamill make adorable videos with his dog on TikTok is one of the best things to come out of 2021 so far, and I hope we get to see even more like it.

Mark Hamill has been a busy person recently as well. He revealed that he is currently in Serbia filming his role in The Machine, which he stars in alongside Bert Kreischer. The film is based on a true story that happened to Bert Kreischer in college, and he often tells the story during his stand-up routine. The movie is set 20 years after the story he tells in his stand-up. The mob he met in the past tracks him down and kidnap his father, who is played by Hamill.

No stranger to animation, Hamill has also appeared in several new animated shows. He played Art Rosebaum in the immensely successful Amazon show Invincible. He will also be taking on the role of Skeletor in Kevin Smith’s new Masters of the Universe animated series. Hamill had actually thought about stepping away from animation for a bit, but the role of Skeletor helped bring him back in for more fun.

Needless to say, it is wonderful to see Mark Hamill pop up more often in our lives. He is an absolute joy and an incredibly skilled actor. TikTok is a wonderful and creative platform for entertainment of all kinds. I am sure someone like Mark Hamill can make a lot of cool things with the app. Even if he stops, which his first video suggests, we still have the adorable video of him and his dog, and there are far worse things to see on the internet.
