Love Reading About Love? YA VERSION
Here are some romance/books on/with a touch of Love to give a go. It’ll melt even the coldest of hearts
Honestly, I was ready to be a hater today, but then I played some music and felt very in the mood for the ole Love Day. So, here’s me sharing the love with some lovey-dovey books. Enjoy!
1. WHITE OUT BY: Dhonielle Clayton, Tiffany D. Jackson,Nic Stone, Angie Thomas, Ashley Woodfolk, and Nicola Yoon
If you’re into reading works from various writers, or if you can’t decide on what author to go read, but know you want to read something about love…then this is for you!
12 teens try to help a friend with an apology. Suddenly, there’s a WHITE OUT and they’re trapped inside
Genre: YA romance
Setting: Atlanta snowstorm
All the: feels
Rep: Black love
2. Highly Suspicious by Talia Hibbert (a NEW novel)
Into grumps and academic rivalry? Well, this is for you! Competition and cuteness
MEET CELINE: she’s into conspiracies and her very popular Instagram page is constantly updated with new ones that gets the people talking. She’s great at school…which is something Brad isn’t too happy about.
MEET BRAD: He’s the IT boy. Popular, good at sports and he’s the top of every class, except one…the one he shares with Celine.
When Celine signs up for a survival class for some reason Brad is right there beside her.
They must complete the challenges together, and might just grow closer (though, they wouldn’t want that now would they)
Rep: Black love, character with OCD
3. You Should See Me In A Crown by Leah Johnson
Liz is amazing in school, but not the best socially. Still, she has her few friends and her dreams of going to the college of her dreams.
Here’s the issue…she can’t get the scholarship unless she becomes Prom Queen.
Liz? Prom Queen?
Anywho, there’s another issue…the girl she’s running against is popular and Liz has to admit she’s also cute.
Rep: Black, sapphic
4. To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before (trilogy)
Lucky for you this one isn’t just ONE. There are 2 others after this (hence, “trilogy”), and there are movies to go with them!
Anywho, let’s get to the plot:
Lara Jean has written all of her crushes cute little letters and put them in envelopes…then she put the envelopes in a box, and hid the box. Why? Because though she loves love, and liked the guys, she was far too scared to confess her feelings!
They say that way for some time, but all love must come out somehow. The how: her little sister found this box and mailed the letters.
Now Lara Jean must fake date her real crush, Peter (hey, I didn’t make the rules), the popular cool boy.
What happens when all of these boys pop up to confront her? Yea, you have to read the books to find out.
Will they won’t they mixed in with a “who is the right one for Lara Jean”
Rep: Asian (she is half Korean) rep
Happy reading! Happy Valentine’s Day! Spread the love! Watch romcoms, read romance, sing a sappy song!
Sometimes, you just need to cuddle up with a good romance book and either pretend you’re one of the characters, or get so swept up in their love story that yours don’t matter.
Shout out to the: hopeless romantics (there’s hope!), the singles (ready to mingles & the “sworn off love” people), the happily married, happily in a relationship where you’re both wondering wha—I’m trying to reach a word count here!
