Kat is a vet from a failed rebellion down and out on her luck. A mutual friend calls her about a bounty hunter named Tusk that needs help with a case. This case takes them down a path that they didn't want to go.

Intergalactic adventures means a fun science fiction story especially when you mix humans with anthropomorphic ones and you know things are going to get interesting awfully fast. This is exactly what happens when Tusk needs a higher paying job and needs a partner who turns out to be Kat, and I’d love to describe her further but that’s giving too much away and I’d rather you read this to find out what I already know. When you create a partnership through a third party you never know what kind of new dynamic is going to be created and when you are involving Bounty Hunters that could be a highly volatile mix. In this case the jury is still out but I’m going to lean towards this is going to be one heck of an exciting partnership that will take buddy books to new levels of fun. That and I think their chance of surviving this mission just doubled, whether that’s enough to get out alive is another thing entirely.

I am rather quite enjoying the way that this is being told. The story & plot development that we see through how the sequence of events unfold as well as how the reader learns information is presented exceptionally well. The character development that we see through the dialogue, the character interaction as well as how we see them act and react to the situations and circumstances which they encounter does a magnificent job in establishing their personalities. The pacing is excellent and as it takes us through the pages introducing us to the characters, the story and the world, okay universe, they live in leaves us wanting to see more.

I’m a huge fan of the way that we see this being structured and how the layers within the story begin to emerge and grow. I like how we see the layers within the story open up new avenues to be explored and while the series is still young there are some great places we now want to go and see. This adds some great depth, dimension and complexity to the story. How everything works together to create the story’s ebb & flow as well as how it moves the story forward are impeccably achieved.

The interiors here are pretty extraordinary. The linework is clean, crisp and sharp while with the varying weights and techniques we see being utilised to create the detail within the work brings this to life with a classic science fiction flair. How we see backgrounds being utilised to enhance and expand the moments as well as how they work within the composition of the panels to bring out the depth perception, sense of scale and the overall sense of size and scope to the story is extremely well handled. The utilisation of the page layouts and how we see the angles and perspective in the panels show an extremely talented eye for storytelling. The various hues and tones within the colours being utilised to create the shading, highlights and shadow work show a great understanding of how colour works.

I’m excited for this series. This was a successfully funded kickstarter and I’m glad that it was because this is a really good, solid and interesting story that has all the right elements for a classic science fiction story. It really reminds of the books I read during my teenage years and that is something that adds to my enjoyment of the book. This has some exceptional writing and strong interesting characterisation with some bloody classic interiors bringing it all to life with such aplomb. Do yourself a favour and check this out and order a copy from your local shop or service.
