'Last Holiday' spoils audiences with a comforting vacation, gorgeous backdrops, and a moral of what life is all about.

And so the moral of the story is to never hit your head on a cabinet door.

Heading out on a vacation, Last Holiday arrived in theaters in 2006. A woman learns terrible news about her health. To live out the supposed last few weeks of her life, Georgia has the time of her life spoiling herself in an expensively lavish European hotel.

I had fun watching Last Holiday. It’s a film that impedes audiences to stop living the life that bores them. Taking a vacation and traveling the world is a lifetime opportunity. Last Holiday spoils audiences with a comforting vacation, gorgeous backdrops, and a moral of what life is all about.

Queen Latifah has the time of her life. You really wish that you could take her place on this adventure. Her growth is inspiring. Latifah did a fantastic job with her emotions, especially melancholic moments. The way she explored Georgia’s mind, along with her passion to cook felt natural. The scene where she sang a tune in the church was one of my favorites.

Every character in Last Holiday has a moment of growth. Even if it’s just a small moment, they are given depth. As a way to have a break from Georgia, characters are given focus but don’t overshadow. We don’t have to pay attention to the main character all the time. It shows how writers cared about supporting characters. Everyone can relate.

Credits to include are LL Cool J, Timothy Hutton, Giancarlo Esposito, Alicia Watt, Gerard Depardieu, Jane Adams, Susan Kellermann, and many more memorable actors. There were a couple of characters who didn’t seem necessary. And one character I would have liked to have seen expanded instead of seeing her in one scene.

Unless I missed it, what is Darius’ (Jascha Washington) relation to Georgia? He is always seen in her house but, there is no confirmed backstory about who he is. And instead of only having one scene Georgia’s sister’s role deserved to be expanded.

I had an issue with the central love story of the film. While Sean (LL Cool J) creates the best comedic moments, overall the attraction between Sean and Georgia wasn’t believable. Sean is forgotten throughout some of the story.

I thought (and was hoping) that the film was setting up a blooming relationship between Georgia and the chef of the hotel. They had better chemistry and I adored their interactions. Sean’s character could have been expanded better to understand him more.

Get ready to be spoiled in this grand hotel in Europe. The cinematography is outstanding. I miss traveling so much! Filmmakers treat audiences to gorgeous views of mountains, a comfortable bed with dozens of pillows, and spa treatment. And delectable food. In fact, all the dishes served were prepared by Food Network chefs.

I wish I could join Georgia in all the pampering that she receives. That and the crazy ski adventure she takes. If I have learned anything throughout the pandemic, it’s that traveling the world is a must. We cannot stay in one place.

Wayne Wang did an excellent job with his attention to the characters, story, and the main theme of the film. Georgia’s monologue about never wasting a moment in life is an inspiring message to all. Sometimes we just need a change. As Georgia learns, we can’t hide from life. Find your passion, seek love, and enjoy every day to the fullest.

Last Holiday is a great film to give anyone motivation. I recommend that you find it and give it a watch. I warn you that you may become incredibly envious of everything Georgia spoils herself with on her vacation.
