The battle continues between Lady Freedom and Black Valkyrie. We also have Camille and Scarlet entering the fray.

I really like how we see the opening here. At first glance I really thought this was going to be a real fight featuring Scarlet but it is only a training exercise which still makes this exciting but in a different manner. There is also a second opening here and it is where we see Camille and Black Valkyrie and this one has more intrigue and interest factors than you’d ever expect to see in short amount of time. Both serve the same purpose and that’s to draw the reader into the story and get them excited for what’s to come. It certainly does that for me and should do this for everyone who reads it and there are so many aspects that I want to see further explored thanks to what we see here. Miss Enigma and Lady Freedom have much different viewpoints on what it means to neutralise a villain and that impasse leads to Lady Freedom leaving the team to their devices.

I really like the way that this is being told. The story & plot development that we see through how the sequence of events unfold as well as how the reader learns information is presented incredibly well. The character development that we see is really pretty amazing thanks to how we see the dialogue, the character interaction and how they act and react to the situations and circumstances that they encounter. Particularly fun is what we see between Camille and the Black Valkyrie. The pacing is superb and as it takes us through the pages revealing more of the story is really well done.

How we see this being structured as well as how the layers within the story continue to emerge, grow and strengthen. This is where the interesting bits begin to form and where the reader becomes more and more engaged in the story. You begin to think about what you see in some really good and interesting ways. How we see everything working together to create the story’s ebb & flow as well as how it moves the story forward is achieved exceptionally well.

The interiors here are pretty well done. I still see a few body proportions that don’t seem to work to well but on the whole it is still some pretty strong work. The linework is super strong and how we see the varying weights being utilised to create the detail work that we see is really well rendered. I do wish that as this series moves forward we’ll see better use of backgrounds because while we get some backgrounds utilised it could be a bit better. Personal feelings aside the way that we see the composition within the panels bringing us depth perception, a sense of scale and that overall sense of size and scope to the story is nicely rendered. The utilisation of the page layouts and how we see the angles and perspective in the panels show a strong eye for storytelling. The colour work is laid down extremely well. I like how we see the various hues and tones within the colours being utilised to create the shading, highlights and shadow work. I am really impressed with the gradation and colour blocking used side by side.

Each issue gets a little more complex and adds a little more depth to the storytelling and this is precisely what should be happening with each new issue to come out. I have a feeling that we’re going to see these creators get better and better at their craft with each issue that they do and it’s exciting to see that kind of growth come about. A new small publishing house with newer creators and watching them all grow together is what comics are really about.
