Lady Death has always been the BAD GIRL. But once upon a time, she was absolutely EVIL. Obsessed with annihilation, the diva of death sought to snuff out the entire human race and turn the earth into an endless graveyard. Thankfully, Lady Death changed her wicked ways to become a champion of the downtrodden and a scourge of demon-kind throughout Hell. For generations, the evil seething within the witch's soul lied dormant....forgotten...until now!

Something has awakened-a sinister passion that leads Lady Death to the darkest corners of the globe. Leaving piles of bloody bodies in her wake, she seeks a mysterious power never before seen by mankind. But for what nefarious purpose?

Featuring the key first appearance of the newest Coffinverse characters: Devilock, Demon hunter Muuaji and the hoodoo princess Madam Midnight. Also guest starring La Muerta!

I am not sure why my store has such a hard time getting my Lady Death in but this came this week and I have to say I have so missed Lady Death! This is by all accounts the character whom I fell in love with and have been missing in my life for quite some time. The depth and complexity of the characters and the story that we see is phenomenal and it’s just nice to see that the more things change, the more they stay the same.

I am a huge fan of the way that this is being told. The story & plot development that we see through how the sequence of events unfold as well as how the reader learns information is presented beautifully. The first opening had me and the two-page spread sigh then to see La Muerta yeah it all just conspires to really make your mind pop. This grabs your attention and your imagination as it pulls you into this world. The character development that we see is utterly phenomenal and as we see Lady Death talking to New Orleans Kingpin well it should send shivers and tingles down your spine as the goose pimples on your flesh rise. The pacing is superb and as it takes us through the pages revealing the story and the characters involved you just sit back, smile and be reminded why she’s the most gorgeous and deadly creature to have ever walked the Earth.

The interiors here are mind numbingly brilliant to behold. The linework is exquisite and how we see the varying weights and techniques being utilised to showcase all this detail work leaves you breathless. How backgrounds are utilised throughout to enhance the moments and bring us this marvellous depth perception, sense of scale and that overall sense of size and scope to the story is breathtaking. The creativity and imagination that we see throughout the book is hauntingly beautiful and nothing that we see comes as a shock but it surely leaves an impression. The utilisation of the page layouts and how we see the angles and perspective in the panels show this masterful eye for storytelling. The colour work is heavenly! To see the various hues and tones within the colours being utilised to create the shading, highlights and shadow work shows an eye for how to utilise colour to its fullest. The tones within the flesh, whatever colour that may be, is utilised to help define the facial features and to see how clothing and such can be given depth through variations is a true sign of how colour can be exciting, fresh and more than you think.

How we see this structured and how the layers within the story emerge and grow with each turn of the page it builds this crazy excitement within the reader. How we see everything working together to create the story’s ebb & flow and how that constantly moves the story forward is delightful. Every single element of this book is mindbogglingly brilliant to see on each and every page.
