Skyle are elated at the recent turn of events at the office

Wednesday’s episode of The Young and the Restless may not air until Thursday due to the impeachment proceedings. When it is shown, viewers will see a significant shift in the “Skyle” relationship. Jack met his son at Society where Kyle offered him a proposition. He wanted to be co-CEO with his dad and named the official successor to his grandfather’s legacy. Kyle said if that did not happen he would look for work somewhere else. Jack told his son he had given him much to think about then got up from the table. He was about to walk away, when he went back over to his son and agreed to his terms. Lola and Mariah has been watching from a distance and came over to see what was going on.

The two women had been engaged in their own conversation earlier and Ms. Copeland took it upon herself to announce that Theo and Summer had broken up. She even went so far as to tell Lola to be on guard. As they were congratulating Kyle, Theo showed up and gave well wishes also. He wanted to buy everyone drinks, but Kyle said he had to get back to the office, which came across as if he wanted to quickly tell Summer about his good fortune. Jack and Mariah said they had to go as well, which left only Lola to have a drink with Theo.

As the duo were talking she seemed a little embarrassed as she asked if his breakup with Summer had anything to do with her husband. Theo said no, that he and Summer both needed to focus on business. Lola had this sad look as if she were resigning herself to the fact that she was helpless against the whiles of the “Snowflake”. It’s looking like “Skyle” is beginning the long goodbye but it’s not clear yet what will be their deal breaker.

At Jabot, Kyle shared his good news with Summer who was so excited for him. Earlier Victor had come by the office to congratulate his granddaughter on her promotion and she told him she and Theo had broken up. Victor said she would find the right person, who might be someone she already knows. This might have been the Newman patriarch’s way of implying that she and Kyle are right for each other. Just before her grand dad showed up Summer had seen Theo taking a paper from Jack’s desk. She shared this with Kyle and suggested he keep an eye on his cousin.

Summer told Kyle, she knew he was glad she and Theo broke up, then admitted that she believes she is better off without him also. The duo then broke out the champagne glasses and had some bubbly. The Young and the Restless has completely flipped the script with this couple but has done so gradually. Ms. Newman came back to town as a spoiled brat who got on everyone’s last nerve. Kyle realized he loved her but she was busy trying to bed his uncle Billy. Once Lola came along, Summer went out of her way to try to break them up, and Kyle was furious with her.

Now Summer is trying to prove herself worthy of her promotion at Jabot and keep her focus on business. She is enjoying time with Kyle, without pushing herself on him. He appreciates her loyalty and told her she is why he had the courage to stand his ground with his father. Based on their new dynamic, it would probably be Kyle who makes the first move. When he does, Summer is not going to refuse. The writers seemingly are taking them around Robin Hood’s barn so viewers will warm up to the idea. In the meantime Lola looks lost and Theo seems unsure of his place in Genoa City. The writers may also be trying to bring them together so stay tuned to see what happens next.
