General Hospital viewers speak out

Lindsey Hartley recently replaced Kelly Monaco for a second time as Sam McCall on General Hospital but spoilers say Monaco is already back taping new episodes. Hartley stepped into the role when Monaco was out for a 14 day quarantine due to stress. Viewers were welcoming of Lindsey but most were anxious for Kelly to return.

This time around there have been some mean-spirited General Hospital viewers who are being disrespectful towards the soap veteran by saying they would like Hartley to replace Kelly permanently. Some disgruntled fans have become brutal during the past few years in their attacks against the cast recently by demanding that certain individuals be fired.

General Hospital fans are passionate in their views

First, it was Ingo Rademacher (Jasper Jax Jacks) because a tweet he posted was considered to be transphobic although the actor denied the claim. Rademacher was later let go from the ABC soap but it was because he refused to get the COVID vaccine and Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) was fired for the same reason.

Next, it was Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis) because she has been outspoken in her views against Rademacher and her stance that everyone should be vaccinated. Now the heat has been turned up against Monaco and angry viewers are calling for Hartley to be her permanent replacement.

Actors doing a job

Both Hartley and Monaco are simply actors trying to make a living by doing their jobs. Kelly has had nothing but praise for her temporary stand-in but some GH viewers are desiring to see Lindsey take n the role of Sam permanently, Kelly has been in the hot seat for several years for various reasons. She has used her social media platforms to speak out against online bullies yet they persist and have increased in their attacks against her.

Many General Hospital viewers love Monaco and said that her replacement had big shoes to fill the first time around. Now there are others who watch the ABC soap who are saying they prefer Hartley and want her to take over the role permanently. It's not clear why the haters are promoting the view that actors should lose their jobs. In the case of Grahn, there was even a petition that was being signed demanding that she be fired.

Online haters have increased

It's not clear why so many General Hospital viewers are voicing such strong opinions as opposed to the other three daytime dramas but so far the extremists have not been heeded. It seems at this point that their opinions are not carrying much weight with the powers that be but there is no way to see into the future.

Monaco originated the role of Sam in 2003 and has become a fan favorite. She also was outspoken when her offscreen friend Billy Miller was switched from being Jason and was revealed to be his twin brother Drew Cain. The actress also shared her disapproval when Drew was killed off and Miller was fired. She said at the time that she had more info coming but never again addressed the issue in public. Monaco also has been silent regarding Cameron Matthison replacing Miller as Drew.

Time will tell whether or not the haters will get their wish and if Monaco is replaced by Hartley. Some spoilers have suggested Sam might get back together with Drew but right now she seems to be getting closer to Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zampragna). Be on the lookout for General Hospital updates related to the saga of the two women who have portrayed Sam as well as spoilers regarding what happens next in Port Charles.
