Kanye and Kim Kardashian West welcomed their fourth child on May 9, 2019. The baby boy was the second child born via surrogate. Kim gave birth to the first two, but she had complications which caused her and Kanye to decide to have the rest of their children by using a gestational carrier.

The rapper and his socialite wife have a large family and all their children have unique names: North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm West.

North West

Kim and Kanye's first child was born on June 15, 2013, before her parents were married on May 24, 2014. It was Kim's third marriage and Kanye's first. Kim had no children by her other two husbands.

Kimye's first baby weighed only four pounds and 15 ounces at birth. She was given a unique name, especially when paired with her last name. Her name is North West, but she is affectionately called Nori. It was more than two months before a photo was posted. The public wondered what the baby would look like. Kanye took people out of their suspense when he showed the first photo on Kris Jenner's short-lived talk show. The first photo was delayed, but the five-year-old has been in the spotlight many times since then because her mother posts a lot of photos on her social media accounts.

Saint West

Saint West is the second child of the celebrity couple. Their first boy was born on December 5, 2015, when his father was 38, his mother was 35, and his sister was three years old at the time.

The parents named their first son, Saint West. They shared his photo much earlier than they shared their first child's photo. Both Kanye and Kim kept their fans updated about their first son just as they had done concerning their first daughter.

Even though Kim had medical problems with her pregnancy the first time, she went ahead and had another child. Saint West was born 20 days before his due date because of the same medical concerns. Therefore, her doctor induced labor much earlier than he had planned. Even though Saint was born at 36 weeks, he was healthy and weighed eight pounds and one ounce, which was more than any of the other children's weight when they were born.

Like his older sister, photos of Saint were worth millions of dollars because many companies wanted their photos on covers of their newspapers, magazines, and even billboards.

Because Kim suffered from placenta accreta while pregnant with North and Saint, she and Kanye took the doctor's advice and agreed to have other children through surrogacy. The celebrities' third child was a girl born through a gestational carrier on January 15, 2018. She weighed seven pounds and six ounces.

The surrogate was a San Diego mother in her late 20s. The woman was screened to meet the West's standards. The surrogate was reportedly paid $45,000 to carry the baby. The Wests paid the agency that referred the surrogate around $70,000.

Psalm West

Kim and Kanye's fourth child is a boy. Now they have two girls and two boys with alternating genders—girl, boy, girl, boy. The baby was born on May 9, 2019, via a surrogate like his sister Chicago. He weighed six pounds and nine ounces. The baby's name is Psalm. He is named after the longest book of the Bible. Psalm joins his siblings: A five-year-old sister named North, a three-year-old brother named Saint, and a 16-month-old sister named Chicago.

Kim posted Psalm's debut photo on her Instagram page on Mother's Day, just three days after he was born. He is seen swaddled in all white, surrounded by white blankets in a white crib.

Reactions to the Children's Names

At first, social media reacted negatively to every one of the children's names. After people got used to them, it didn't seem to matter any longer. The news of the A-list celebrities naming their son Psalm quickly became a trending topic on Twitter with people poking fun at the name. There were many funny comments, memes, gifs, and videos.

One person said he is glad they didn't name the child Deuteronomy. While people might joke at Psalm as a name, there are many other people named after books of the Bible such as Esther, Ruth, Amos, Matthew, John, Luke, and many others. However, those are actual names of people even though they are also names of the Bible books.
