The well known character of Daffy Duck was taken to a whole new level between 2003 and 2005. Daffy Duck turned into the one and only Duck Dodgers! Daffy Duck starred as Duck Dodgers in an American animated television series. The series was based on a theatrical cartoon short called Duck Dodgers in the 24 ½ the Century in 1953. Duck Dodgers saw the return of classic Looney Tunes characters, alongside the main hero Daffy Duck. Duck Dodgers was mainly shown on Boomerang and Cartoon Network before it came off air.

During its time, Duck Dodgers was a popular afternoon children’s television show that gained a lot of viewers. Viewers watching at home saw Duck Dodgers and his sidekick, the Eager Young Space Cadet (a.k.a. Porky Pig), working together.

The triumphant two would whizz around across space and go to numerous planets to save the day. Some planets they ended up on were Earth, Mars, Klunk, Vacation World, Hollywood Planet, Swinus 9, Niponno, Oa, and so on!

Dodgers and his sidekick would always be at battle with the Martian Empire. Characters that worked for the Martian Empire were:Martian Commander X-2 (Duck Dodgers’s greatest arch enemy), the Martian Queen (the ruler of Mars), Commander K-9 (Martian Commander X-2’s dog), Martian Centurion Robots (the famous servants of the Mars Empire) and finally Instant Martians (the funky strange bird-like Martians with the awesome purple hair).

Marvin and Dodgers

In 2005, Duck Dodgers came off air after its third season. Ever since then, viewers on Boomerang and Cartoon Network haven’t been to space with Duck Dodgers and his sidekick. Duck Dodgers was well known for its crazy, wacky and iconic scenes. Daffy Duck was just as mad and looney as he was in Looney Tunes, let alone Duck Dodgers. In 2004, Duck Dodgers won the Annie Award for Music in an Animated Television Production.

Today in the world of television and film, sci-fi is expanding rapidly. Star Trek is currently in production ready for an all-new film to be released. This has hyped up the fans of Star Trek to see what they think of the all-new cast. Will it be just as good as the classic series? Will it be better? Not only that, the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers are back in action! With an all-new movie so close to being released, it means the world could be in danger once again. So, that's a fan favorite from our childhoods revived. Let's not leave the kids out and get something revived for their benefit too. Despite it recasting its characters' voices, a whole new era would explode onto the Looney Tunes world if Duck Dodgers would be revived once again. Even for a movie.

Boomerang and Cartoon Network is always full of Scooby Doo, Tom and Jerry and other shows that rely heavily on nostalgia. Maybe it’s time to bring back the role of Duck Dodgers and give the channels that extra kick that they need. But, if Duck Dodgers did ever return, it wouldn’t be the same as it used to be. This is due to the sad passing of the main voice, Joe Alaskey. Joe was the voice of Duck Dodgers, Marvin the Martian, Beaky Buzzard, Drake Darkstar, Hubie and Bertie, Sheep and Muttley. So, if Duck Dodgers returned, they'd have a lot of recasting to do. But I’m sure if it does return, it would just be as incredible as it used to be and pick up numerous awards on the way. Viewers today have no idea what they have missed out on.

As someone who just discovered the series, I would be ecstatic if it got revived. And I don't mean some reboot no one asked for with a bunch of new characters and some of the best being removed, I mean a full-fledged reboot, every main/secondary character returning just like before! Holy cow. How does a show this good even exist? It was certainly during a renaissance of the Looney Tunes franchise when the writers just weren't afraid to bend the envelope. Space Jam, Back in Action, Bah Humduck, Loonatics Unleashed, and this - a whirlwind of creativity and passion. These writers were like "you know how Looney Tunes is meant for comedy, and is just a compilation of cute little shorts? Yeah, let's actually give the audience something way deeper. And instead of just using the main characters we show all the time like freaking Daffy and Porky, let's utilize the characters people actually want to see like Marvin the Martian because there is so much more we can do with him, and hey, he just deserves a spotlight of three seasons". This show is literally everything I could ask for in a franchise. We need the old Looney Tunes back.
