11 - Constantia Mansion

Once the pride of the Gupta family, this large mansion, which is located in Dawn Avenue, Cape Town is currently abandoned and falling to bits.

Described as "sinking into dilapidation", the massive home has its own thatched roof which is now caving in, window balconies that are rotting and walls which are cracking apart.

The mansion is currently up for sale as the state seeks to recoup some of the Guptas apparent ill-gotten gains with the property one of several that have been listed for sale over recent months.

Once belonging to Mark Thatcher, son of the former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, the infamous Gupta family purchased the R17 million home in 2005.

The home includes seven reception rooms, swimming pool, a private gym, a wine cellar, a walk-in freezer and an entertainment den.

More buildings were planned including a staff quaters, three-bedroom second home and veranda juice bar.

Cape Town's Dawn Avenue is home to some of the cities wealthiest residents with it also featuring one of the countries most powerful residents’ associations.

10 - Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG

Fleets of expensive and super-luxurious cars have adorned the Gupta garage, with one of those cars being the $235,600 dollar Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG.

This car features a 7-Speed Shiftable Automatic transmission, a sprint from 0-62mph in four seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 155mph.

The turbocharged 6.0-liter V-12 engine provides 621 horsepower while the four-seat coupe weighs in at 2,185kg.

Mercedes clearly hit the nail square on the head with this impressive car and it features both comfort and sport mode on steering wheel-mounted paddles.

Tech features include Magic Body Control and a curve tilting function while adaptive air suspension and on-board front cameras scan the road.

The car also features 20-inch chromed AMG alloy wheels, a 24-speaker Burmester stereo, LED headlights set with Swarovski crystals and Mercedes dynamic cruise control with Stop&Go Pilot system.

9 - Johannesburg Estate

Known as the Saxonworld compound, this massive mansion was recently sold for over 20 million South African Rand.

Known to have been the scene of several meetings between the family and some high profile ANC politicians, features Indian-themed interior decor with marble elephants and Indian carpets.

The home was the victim of another swoop by the National Prosecuting Authority’s Investigating Directorate after a restraining order to freeze assets belonging to Iqbal Sharma was granted.

The mansion features a huge marble styled entrance with six pillars and steps leading up to the entrance.

One of the richest suburbs of Johannesburg, the property sits behind 18 foot high walls, a large black iron gate and has a checkerboard roof.

Features of this property include an entrance foyer, passage, lounge, dining room, a kitchen, three bedrooms and two bathrooms.

8 - BMW X5

One of the go-to cars for many British police forces, this mid-sized luxury SUV actually made its debut in 1999 as the E53 model.

Available with either a manual or automatic gearbox, the X5 model was released in 2010 as a performance varient, being marketed as a Sports Activity Vehicle.

The car can achieve 0-62 mph in 3.1 seconds, has a 4.4 litre v8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo tech and has a top speed of between 143 to 155.3 mph.

The new 2021 X5 has a retail price of around $61,600 dollars and has been described as incredibly quiet and relaxing to drive.

7 - Sandton Mansion

The third of these massive properties on our list and the Gupta mansion in Sanderton, Johannesburg is located in the cities bustling financial centre.

Another billionaire postcode, this mansion is thought to have been the property of alleged Gupta 'lieutenant' Iqbal Sharma and was siezed by the National Prosecuting Authority under the Prevention of Organised Crime Act.

The luxurious mansion was once described as an "oasis in the middle of the city" and is thought to be worth worth about around 12 million South African Rand.

Featuring a large swimming pool in the garden, the property features several balconies with chequered floors and a large garden entertaining space.

Front doors imported from India grace the property while antique elephant brass door handles, a handmade gold-colored mirror, glass mosaic entrance table and Persian carpets graced the home.

Assets worth upwards of R500 000 were sold after the home was siezed and these included 400 year old antique pieces of furniture.

6 - Bentley Continental GT

Moving up in both price and performance, the Gupta garage features more expensive cars than most with a red £176,000 Bentley Continental GT belonging to Aneesh Gupta.

The 6-liter W12 engine features twin turbos capable of unleashing 620 Break Horsepower.

More than 100 cars have been linked to the Gupta family after they left South Africa but the whereabouts of many cars, like this one are currently unknown.

5 - Mining & Energy Empire

One of the major income streams for the famous Gupta family is their mining empire which mostly revolves around the Oakbay Resources and Energy company.

For years the family worked closely with South Africa's government in the nuclear energy sector.

Other companies owned in the mining sector included coal mines, Iron ore mines and Uranium Mines.

The family also owned Imperial Crown Trading that was involved in a dispute with ArcelorMittal and Anglo American plc over the rightful ownership of Kumba Iron Ore, which owns Sishen mine.

4 - Lamborghini Gallardo

Fast does not always need to be new and some of the cars owned by the powerful Gupta family includes classic ones such as the famous Lamborghini Gallardo.

Released under parent company Audi, the car was built between 2003 and 2013 and was the best-selling model with 14,022 built throughout its production run.

The Gallardo was offered with two choices of transmission; a conventional (H-pattern) six-speed manual transmission, and a six-speed electro-hydraulically actuated single-clutch automated manual transmission.

The Gallardo coupe has a top speed of 202 mph and can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.7 seconds.

These days, Gallardos have held their value, still selling for roughly $100,000 dollars in good condition.

3 - Bombardier Global 6000

The pride of the Gupta fleet of amazingly expensive vehicles, the Bombardier Global 6000 costs around $64 million dollars for the 2021 model.

Now seized by Canada's export credit agency after the family defaulted on its debt for the plane, it features onboard Wi-Fi and space for 14 people.

Famous for once flying president Cyril Ramaphosa to Japan, the plane, a 2015 model, was later sold for around R440 South African Rand.

Having only flown 1,256 hours and landed 328 times, the plane features two BR710A2-20 engines and has a range of 6,000 nm.

With a top speed of 950 km/h, the plane is said to be one of the best private jets for riding through turbulence and the Vision flight deck is upgraded with Rockwell Collins Pro Line Fusion avionics.

2 - Dubai Mansion

Decorated with gold fixtures and vintage furniture, billionaire brothers Ajay, Atul and Rajesh Gupta owned a massive home in Dubai that at one point, had 35 members of staff.

Located in the ultra-exclusive Emirates Hills enclave, the home covered 40,000 square feet, had gold inlay worked into the walls and boasted a grand staircase.

Furniture belonging to Russian Tsar's and even a sofa belonging to Michael Jackson were found in the living room while marble floors, chandeliers and even a painted central dome featured in the home.

Underneath the home was parking space for ten cars, while ten bedrooms and nine bathrooms was the norm for homes in the area.

Notable residents of the area include Reeyaz Moosa, the late president of Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe and Nawaz Sharif, former Prime Minister of Pakistan.

1 - Media Empire

Several companies make up the media empire once controlled by the Gupta family and these included both ANN7 and The New Age.

Launched in 2013, ANN7, which today is known as Afro Worldwide, was a 24-hour satellite TV news channel that ended operations in 2018.

The channel was sold to Afrotone Media Holdings in 2017 after numerous technical issues and mistakes made by untrained presenters went viral online.

The South African New Age Newspaper was purchased by TNA Media around the same time as ANN7 channel.

Both companies were strongly criticised by the African National Congress for coverage of President Jacob Zuma's relationship with the Gupta family

The newspaper's website often claimed a daily print run of over 100,000 copies, however readership was thought to be only half of this at any one time.

The Gupta family continues to be one of the most interesting and controversial families in the whole of South Africa.
