Zac Efron as Ted Bundy in Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile

I know, I know... in my last article (Newest Indies On Netflix) I said I'd be posting a list of newly added indie films on Netflix every fortnight; but I've decided to one up that, and deliver the deets on indie films that are GETTING ADDED TO NETFLIX EVERY WEEK–so that you indie fans are up-to-date and ready for them!

Here they are:

'Ironclad'

Coming To Netflix: 1 May 2019

Release Year: 2011

Available: Netflix UK

Based on the siege of Rochester castle in 1215, Ironclad is an historical drama, which was filmed entirely in Wales, and tells the story of the war waged against King John by English Barons during the 13th century. The film stars James Purefoy, Brian Cox, and Paul Giamatti, and was produced on a budget of $25 million, which generally could be considered low for a war film.

'Chasing Liberty'

Coming to Netflix: 1 May 2019

Release Year: 2004

Available: Netflix USA

Chasing Liberty is an early 00’s romantic comedy that will perfectly compliment a takeaway-and-wine night with girlfriends. Mandy Moore stars as Anna, the daughter of the president of the United States, and her secret service codename is Liberty. She feels overwhelmed by having secret service agents protecting her all the time, and escapes them during a state visit to Prague. It is here she meets Ben, who she begins to fall for, but it turns out Ben is not all he appears to be. Produced by independent studio Alcon Entertainment.

'Kia & Cosmos'

Coming to Netflix: 1 May 2019

Release Year: 2018

As described by its director Sudipto Roy, Kia & Cosmos is “a heartwarming journey of India’s first teenage-girl-detective.” Kia is 15 years old, and has been diagnosed as being on the autistic spectrum. When she finds out about the death of the neighbourhood cat, Cosmos, she uses it as motivation to go on a journey to find who her father is whilst uncovering the mystery of Cosmos’s death along the way. The film is produced by Indian independent film company AVA Film Productions.

Kim Swims is a documentary following Kim Chambers’ journey as the first woman to swim 30 miles between the Farallon Islands and San Francisco in 2015. The film has already premiered at a number of festivals around the world, and these include Rocky Mountain Women’s Film Festival, Feminista Film Festival, and Portland Film Festival. It has received critical acclaim, and its story proves that anything is possible when you put your mind to it.

'Knock Down The House'

Coming to Netflix: 1 May 2019

Release Year: 2019

Available: Netflix UK & USA

If you are a fan of democratic socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, this Netflix original documentary may be of interest to you. The film covers how Ocasio-Cortez and three other female democrats ran for congress in 2018, and studies each of their political campaigns closely. The documentary had its world premiere at the Sundance film festival this year, and has already won two awards–watch this inspirational documentary on May first, and see what you think.

'Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile'

Coming to Netflix: 3 May 2019

Release Year: 2019

Available: Netflix USA

It’s the one that all Zac Efron and Ted Bundy Tapes fans have been looking forward to (I, myself, am also intrigued to see this)–this biographical thriller tells the story of the life of Bundy through the eyes of his girlfriend, Liz Kloepfer (played by Lily Collins), and how despite the crimes he commits, she remains infatuated with him. The biopic gives us a deeper insight into the disturbing mind of Bundy, and critic Carlos Aguilar has said that Zac Efron “chillingly captures Ted Bundy’s killer charm.”

'The Last Summer'

Source: What's On Netflix

Coming to Netflix: 3 May 2019

Release Year: 2019

Available: Netflix UK & USA

Who doesn't love a coming-of-age teen romance film that takes place in the lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer? The Last Summer is a dramedy about high school graduates who decide to meet up one last time before they start college, and end up learning things about themselves that they never knew before. Produced by Gulfstream Pictures.
