"I Love Boosters" (2026) - A Movie Review

The plan to steal clothes begins now.

“I Love Boosters” snuck into theaters in 2026. A group of female boosters steal clothes from a cutthroat fashion maven and resell them at a lower price. Along the way, they bond to see why they’re stealing. 

To say the world needs more silly movies just came true with “I Love Boosters,” a quirky film about fashion stealers. Traditional movies are boring. “I Love Boosters” has an underlying message about leading your own way, but, like the gigantic conflict ball that rolls around, it gets too muddled by the silliness overload.  

I have been a big Keke Palmer fan ever since her “True Jackson” days. In a full-circle moment, Palmer returns to the world of fashion, except she is stealing them off the racks. I wanted to know more about her character, Corvette, who is still trying to figure out her life. 

A collective team of female power stars in “I Love Boosters,” from Taylour Page, Naomi Ackie, Rachel Walters, and Eiza Gonzalez. The director reached out to everyone via social media if they were interested in the film. 

Demi Moore stars as Christie Smith, the fashion competitor. I am so happy for Moore. She has been gaining more recognition since starring in “The Substance.”

LaKeith Stanfield plays the Pinky Ring Guy. He pursues Corvette in a romance subplot. Stanfield is a versatile actor. One of the funniest scenes that had audiences cracking up is this over-the-top erotic scene involving Stanfield. 

My friend has a big celebrity crush on Will Poulter. I immediately texted her right after to tell her that Poulter is in the movie. Poulter has a hidden comedy side. He was so funny in his scenes as Greyson, a snooty manager.

Boots Riley, an American rapper and filmmaker, directed “I Love Boosters.” He previously wrote and directed one other film titled “Sorry to Bother You,” which premiered at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival. “I Love Boosters” is inspired by a song of the same name. The song explores themes about class and overlooked communities. 

He wanted to write about a community that hasn’t garnered enough attention. The personal relationships between the characters are the core of the story. I felt he could have focused on this aspect more because Riley overdoes the comedy. 

“I Love Boosters” is a wacky and nonsensical movie that you don’t have to take seriously. It’s similar to the “Naked Gun” movies. It has a bizarre sense of humor along with acting choices, but you have to know what you’re getting into. 

One of the film’s most memorable sequences takes place inside Christie Smith’s workplace. The building leans at an angle, like the Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy. Characters slide across the floor and fight to hike to the main door at the steep height. To achieve this effect, filmmakers tilted the set to perform physical comedy.

What makes these movies work is their underlying message. The message is that we all have problems that feel like monsters that will crush us. We have to solve them to the best of our ability. I enjoyed the film for what it is, but eventually, the message gets lost in the film’s silly nature.

The audience's reaction is something I will treasure. I was only in the theater with a few people, but our laughter filled the entire room. These older women sitting next to me were having the best time. That’s what makes cinema so special. People come together to watch movies and have a good time. 

“I Love Boosters” is something different to check out. Once it’s streaming, it’s a fun movie to watch with friends.
