Montezuma III and the MEXICA Gods have assembled their army. Will Helm and Camazotz be enough to stop the war—and rescue the last dragon prince before it's too late?

I really do enjoy this book. It’s a Dungeons & Dragons style story that has all the feel of a gaming adventure and a just darn good story. This issue has a lot of secrets and lies that are coming to light and that’s just the starters as the team has to split up and gather strength if they are going to take down Montezuma. One of the aspects of this that I love is that we are dealing with the Aztec Gods and they are a pantheon that we don’t normally see in our comics. European and Far East sure but South American is rare. Which is kind of odd considering they are the United States closest neighbour. So I’m thrilled we’re getting to see them being incorporated and utilised in such a brilliant manner. I think we more stories from other cultures to diversify our knowledge and understanding of other cultures.

I am absolutely loving the way that this is being told. The story & plot development that we see through how the sequence of events unfold as well as how the reader learns information is presented exceptionally well. The character development we see through the dialogue, the character interaction as well as how they act and react to the situations and circumstances they encounter and how it fleshes them magnificently. The pacing is sensational and as it takes us through the pages revealing more of the story we are treated to some great action and drama.

I like how we see this being structured and how the layers within the story continue to grow, evolve, strengthen and emerge. The avenues that we see being explored and those that are opening up contain the surprise twists and some incredible characterisation and whether they work with the main arc or simply swirl around it they add this great depth, dimension and complexity to the story. How we see everything working together to create the story’s ebb & flow as well as how it moves the story forward is achieved exceptionally well.

I like the interiors here there is some absolutely amazing creativity and imagination on display within the pages. The giant bats are sensational and the gods we see are amazing and heck even Montezuma in all his glory is really something special to see. The linework is spectacular and how we see the varying weights and techniques being utilised to create this stellar detail work. I like how we see the backgrounds here and how they enhance the moments and how they work within the composition of the panels toi bring us the depth perception, sense of scale and the overall sense of size and scope to the story. The utilisation of the page layouts and how we see the angles and perspective in the panels show a remarkably talented eye for storytelling. The colour work is brilliantly rendered. The various hues and tones within the colours being utilised to create the shading, highlights and shadow work is superbly rendered. The ghostly or highlighted moments that we see really pop and it’s a sensational contrast to the work.

I love what we see here and how it’s being presented. With Helm not knowing exactly what’s going on around him it’s almost like a comedy of errors but it’s endearing and cute because he’s Helm. He comes across as a dumb brute but he’s actually one of those characters who grow on you in ways you don’t see coming. With his wife these two are a really great team and I cannot wait to see what’s coming next for this pair. The writing here is strong and the characterisation is fabulous and with these interiors the whole story comes to life exceptionally well.
