Guy Ritchie’s ‘The Gentlemen’: 10 Coolest Things In The Sensational Season 2
Exquisitely filmed, the hit Netflix gangster thriller’s sophomore season is dazzling, pulsating and absolutely entertaining.

It took two long years but thankfully British director/writer Guy Ritchie’s hit Netflix series, The Gentlemen (2024-present,) does not disappoint on its sophomore return.
Much darker and intense than its debut, the crime comedy drama’s second season is nonetheless thoroughly entertaining thanks to quality acting, sharp dialogue and slick pulsating action. Not to mention, its visual palette—from stylish power dressing to stunning exotic locations—went up a notch too.
Based on Ritchie’s 2019 film of the same name, The Gentlemen continues the story of Eddie Horniman (a never-been-better Theo James) who has not only embraced his status as the 13th Duke of Halstead, but also his alter ego as a gentleman gangster. Keen to reclaim lands that his family used to own, the newly-minted aristocrat is hell-bent on expanding the cannabis empire that runs on his family’s Halstead Manor estate.

That, however, involves dangerously setting up deals with grey characters from the Italian mafia to the British House of Lords, behind the back of drug baron Bobby Glass (a commanding Ray Winstone) who still rules the roost while incarcerated in a luxurious open prison. Although Susie (the ever captivating Kaya Scodelario,) Bobby’s worldly-wise daughter and Eddie’s business partner, is on board with his ambitious plans, Eddie soon discovers that he may have bitten more than he can chew.
Exquisitely shot and absolutely absorbing, The Gentlemen is worth watching if you love sleek crime dramas with equal doses of style and action. Here are 10 coolest things about Season 2.
10 Coolest Things About ‘The Gentlemen’ Season 2
1. Snappy Sharp Chemistry

As main protagonists Eddie and Susie, the chemistry between James and Scodelario is simply electric. Thick sexual tension fills the air whenever these two are verbally sparring with each other, reading each other’s minds aloud, unconsciously wearing matching clothes, or just communicating through their eyes. Together, the pair is the heartbeat of the series and—despite unfavorable circumstances that may have caused a rift between them this season—let’s hope their undeniable sparks for each other will be set alight in Season 3!
An Aristocrat’s Transformation

In Season 2, Eddie is no longer a reluctant Duke managing an affluent cannabis operation. Determined to assert his independence, he makes a 360-turn into a volatile, Godfather-like drug lord who fears no one until his inexperience trips him up big time, resulting in harsh lessons dealt by the likes of Bobby Glass and other adversaries from the past. Theo James has never been better as Eddie, particularly when he loses his cool at Bobby in Episode 4, “The Bigger Picture,” and as a badly beaten Eddie left for dead in a deserted field in Episode 5, “A Suburban A-Road on the Outskirts of Basingstoke.”
Susie’s High Fashion

Ever the glam queen, Susie’s fashion style is again a joy to watch in Season 2, thanks to costume designer Loulou Bontemps. Her dress sense—from clothes to jewelry, sunglasses to bags—is “maximalist power dressing” according to Luxury Endless, featuring brand names including John Galliano and Miu Miu to traditional British country wear. From England to Peru to Italy, Susie intends to stand out as the fashionable rose among the thorns and she usually does.
Eddie’s Gangster Flair

As if a moody Theo James isn’t sexy enough, being sharply dressed makes him doubly fine IMHO. According to Slater Menswear, Eddie’s threads in Season 2 “is a masterclass in British style: tweed, checks, country tailoring and a touch of old-money attitude.” To showcase how wealthy Eddie is now, Bontemps dressed the Duke in bespoke suits as well as specially curated pieces from brands such as Ralph Lauren and Brunello Cucinelli. Oh, a shout-out also to Giancarlo Esposito who always looked sharp as the immaculately-suited American billionaire Stanley Johnston.
5. Stunning New Locations

Thanks to Eddie and Susie expanding their weed business to Italy, Season 2 features stunning Italian locations alongside lavish British properties. Top of the list is the scenic Lake Maggiore, Italy’s second largest lake located between Piedmont and Lombardy, where the Villa Rusconi Clerici, which doubles as Countess Isabella’s stately palazzo, and the Grand Majestic Hotel are also sited. Back in England, Ritchie’s very own picturesque 1134-acre estate in Wiltshire comprising Ashcombe House, sporting lake and private airfield serves as the hunting party setting in Episode 1, “The Road to Kingdom”.
Geoff’s The Man

Arguably Season 2's most intense and thrilling instalment is Episode 7, "Hell Hath No Fury", in which loyal Horniman family gamekeeper Geoff Seacombe (a magnificent Vinnie Jones) masterfully employs his military skill-sets to tackle armed mercenaries who infiltrated Halstead Manor to kidnap his grandson, Tarquin. Together with Tarquin’s dad Nanny (Benjamin Clementine) and gamekeeper-next-door George (Richard McCabe,) the trio moved in precision in taking out the intruders. Ever since his acting debut in Ritchie’s 1999 first film, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, former professional footballer Jones has been a gem on screen.
Sensational New Supporting Act

Among new characters in Season 2, veteran actor Hugh Bonneville (Downton Abbey, Paddington films) as Lord Richard “Dickie” Hawthorne certainly stood out. His campy, flamboyant portrayal of the well-connected corruptible member of the House of Lords, who is willing to influence marijuana legislation as per Eddie and Susie’s request as long as he gets money and access to Susie’s boxer brother Jack (Harry Goodwins,) is mesmerizing. The tense phone conversation he has with Susie (before he meets his tragic end) where he stolidly tells her she has a black heart is downright chilling.
Bobby’s Bathhouse Buddy

A rather creepy supernatural touch appears in The Gentlemen Season 2 through Bobby’s new consultant, the Bannik. A mischievous bathhouse spirit from Slavic mythology, often depicted as a naked old man, Bobby asks the Bannik (whom only he can see) for predictions of upcoming incidents, particularly Eddie’s actions. He gets a pat on the back for “yes” or is scratched by the spirit’s sharp claws for “no.” Whether this suggests Glass is finally off his rocker or not, the mysterious Bannik certainly makes Eddie and Susie’s bathhouse visits far more interesting.
A Wedding of Two Vows

It was a beautiful wedding—filmed at the actual Catholic parish church, Chiesa di San Leonardo, in Pallanza, Italy—but few believed anything good would come from Eddie and Countess Isabella’s (Benedetta Porcaroli) union in Episode 6, “The Bells of Domenico.” Especially not after the way Eddie held Susie’s hand outside the church, promising his “work wife” he would never come after her, despite being warned he could become a monster. We knew the marriage wouldn’t last, but the way it ended was still painfully shocking. RIP Isabella.
O Brother, Thou Art Cain

Eddie’s pathetic, embittered older brother, Lord Freddie (the impressive Daniel Ings,) dressed in a chicken suit, was easily Season 1’s most unforgettable character. In the Season 2 finale, “Bring Me The Head,” Eddie beating the living daylights out of Freddie after discovering his role in Isabella’s demise—under the influence of John “The Gospel” Dixon (Pearce Quigley,) who holds a grudge against Eddie—was deeply satisfying. Ings, who is also memorable as Ser Lyonal Baratheon in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms (2026–present,) is captivating as always, right down to the truly bloody ending.
‘The Gentlemen' Season 1 and 2 are showing exclusively on Netflix. Season 3 is expected in late 2027 or early 2028.
