MCU's Best Trilogy Ending?

Hey there, Marvel Maniacs! Buckle up and get ready for a wild ride through the cosmos as we dive into the much-anticipated, awe-inspiring, emotionally gripping – Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3! Oh, and watch out for spoilers!

Now, the MCU never fails to surprise us, but Guardians 3 is offering us something rare – a satisfying ending to a trilogy. Yes, our beloved Guardians’ story seems to be wrapping up, and boy, does it do so with a bang!

James Gunn, the mastermind behind this series, successfully weaves in the same humour, heart, and unexpected twists we’ve come to love. But this time, he's added a sprinkle of darkness, thanks to Rocket’s disturbing origin story. Talk about an emotionally rich comic book movie!

Oh, and if you thought the Guardians’ backstory was complicated, you're in for a treat! Despite the drama, Gunn spins that tangled mess of MCU lore into a devilishly fun yarn. This film has all the silly dialogue and gags you'd expect but with a fresh dramatic tone. It's a welcome change, trust me.

Rocket’s past, folks, it's heartbreaking. We learn that he was created by the High Evolutionary, a super-scientist with a twisted idea of perfection. And the way Bradley Cooper brings out the layers in Rocket's character? Simply stellar.

The High Evolutionary, played by the ever-intense Chukwudi Iwuji, is easy to despise – he's essentially animal cruelty personified. Despite a slight resemblance to Kang the Conqueror, his unique brand of evil introduces compelling themes of control and expectation into the story.

Let's take a moment to appreciate the stunning visual effects in Guardians 3. From the slimy organic space station to the cyborg-animal henchmen, everything feels so real. And that all-in-one-take hallway fight scene? Absolutely jaw-dropping.

Guardians 3 also gives us a deep dive into Peter Quill and Gamora's relationship. Quill yearns for the old Gamora, but the Gamora now is much closer to the ruthless assassin raised by Thanos, and watching Zoe Saldana channel such rage and brutality... it's a sight to behold.

And let's not forget the rest of the Guardians. Their chemistry is off the charts and it's a joy to see how they've grown into a family. And Karen Gillan’s Nebula? She's a standout with her new robot arm and all the cool things it can do.

Then we have Adam Warlock, who unfortunately plays a surprisingly small role. With his rich comic backstory, it's a bit of a letdown to see him as just the High Evolutionary's lackey. Still, Will Poulter nails the role, earning some good laughs along the way.

Sure, there's a lot happening in this movie. Yes, at times it feels like there's just one too many things going on. But the core of the story – Rocket's trauma – anchors us throughout, grounding this cosmic adventure in real emotion.

Guardians 3 ties up the story we've been following since 2014, giving us closure and well-earned answers for our favourite space-faring misfits. It's a testament to Gunn’s storytelling prowess, weaving humour, heart, and song into an experience that’s unique to the Guardians movies.

So, my fellow Marvel enthusiasts, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is the swan song we've been waiting for. Through Rocket's tragic origin story, we gain a new appreciation for this endearing, scrappy family.

And yes, the plot might be a bit overstuffed, some of the humour might feel stale, and we may have wanted more of Adam Warlock, but the undeniable chemistry of the cast and Gunn's heart-touching style make this movie a must-watch. It sends our beloved Guardians out on an emotional and action-packed high note.

So what are you waiting for? Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 opened in theatres on May 5, 2023. Go, immerse yourself in this cosmic spectacle! Let's send off our Guardians with a bang!
