Wasn’t that glass of water just sitting on the table a moment ago?

Ghost was released to theaters in 1990. After he is killed, Sam Wheat stays behind on the earth in a ghostly form. He finds out unfair secrets regarding his death and learns that the woman he loves is in danger. Finding someone to help, it is only a matter of time.

Films about the world of ghosts are the most intriguing stories. The first time I ever watched Ghost it hit me right in the heart. Ghost distributes a beautiful message about the afterlife along with the incredibly tough journey of moving on.

Ghost is a beautiful picture that lives on the life of the late Patrick Swayze. Swayze’s performances as Sam Wheat is a beautiful, powerful, and emotional job well done. Sam’s determination to save Molly is inspiring. For most of the film, viewers invest in his personality seeing how he likes to be goofy or dramatic.

Sam must learn to figure out how to live his life as a ghost, something he never thought that he had to do. Swayze found himself in the ultimate acting challenge, being involved in a scene, but invisible to the characters. That’s one of my favorite parts of this movie.

Demi Moore’s portrayal of the grieving Molly is real and genuine. I love how she didn’t overact, selling sincere emotion taking the loss of her love one day at a time. Death is never easy. After I had gone through a death in my family, I came across Ghost and it had a big impact on me, healing me in some way. I was not alone. Molly is an inspiration to anybody who is struggling with a loss.

Patrick Swayze said that the pottery scene between him and Demi Moore was the most romantic scene he ever did on film. I have to agree. The pottery scene with the song Unchained Melody floating throughout the air is a scene of cinematic history. Swayze and Moore developed beautiful chemistry, able to figure out each other’s quirks in a heartbeat.

What would this movie be without the comedic legend, Whoopie Goldberg? Finding out that she has the gift to talk to ghosts, Oda May’s life changes from the normal life she lived as a liar. She has the best comebacks and her interactions with Sam were the best. Her involvement in Ghost won Goldberg a well deserved Best Supporting Actress award in 1990.

The story of Ghost is beautiful, but one part about it that will always confuse me is the reason behind Sam’s death. Carl (Tony Goldwyn) is after important bank files. The whole subplot could have been explained better, and Carl’s character made strange decisions that felt out of character.

For the early 90s, Ghost does very well with visual effects. The entire end of the film is a work of art, blending the most enriching soundtrack for one of the most heart-aching scenes in history. Overall editing for the film is splendid.

Jerry Zucker delivered a bold film about emotions, revenge, and closure. Ghost is an outstanding cinematic film to distribute incredible acting talents. The movie is difficult to watch at times for its themes about death and grief, but that’s an important topic that we all need to accept. Ghost is a therapeutic movie that helps those who have suffered losses. We are never alone.

Ghost will always be a classic. It has that creative ability to draw someone in, making you watch it from any point on TV. No matter what, I always tear up. I will never get tired of this movie nor the emotional epic conclusion.
