GH fans say Portia is self-righteous

Some General Hospital fans say that self-righteous Portia Robinson (Brooker Kerr) should not attend the memorial service for Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chaves). GH viewers hope that Trina in her grief will recall how evil her mother was to Spencer and call her out for her hypocrisy. There is the possibility, however that Trina will not be thinking that way because she misses her man so much and may welcome her mother's support.

Dr. Robinson was rude and condescending even after Curtis Robinson (Donnell Turner) revealed that Spencer put Trina first in Greenland. Portia responded that her daughter would never have been in danger in the first place if she were not connected to the Cassadine heir. She did everything she could to keep her Trina away from the man she loves even telling him to hsi face he wasn't good enough for her child.

Portia was manipulative regarding Spencer

Fans suspect that when Portia suggested co-parenting classes to Esme Prince ( Avery Poh) she may have been secretly hoping she and Spencer might bond and he would leave Trina. She once lied to Spencer so he would leave her home without Trina even knowing he had knocked on the door. Portia had already said to several Port Charles residents that Spencer was at fault for bringing Esme into everyone's lives.

Last week after hearing about Spencer's death Portia told Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) that she had wanted to break up Sprina but she did not desire Spencer to die saving their daughter's life. General Hospital fans know that Chaves will return in a few months after wrapping up filming the Netflix series Monster: The Lyle and Eric Menendez story but onscreen his body was not recovered and he is presumed dead and gone.

A photo of the funeral shows Curtis but not Portia

Portia now is feeling guilt and possibly does not like the fact that she was wrong about the Cassadine Prince. She kept saying trouble followed him but now he has died a hero as Spencer sacrificed his life to save Trina from Esme. The scenes for Spencer's graveside service have already been filmed as ABC released an image of the mourners.

To the far right, you can see Curtis Ashford's wheelchair but not his face but there is no image of who is standing behind him. it could be Portia assisting her spouse, or Aunt Stella Henry (Vernee Watson), or someone else. If it is Dr. Robinson she would do well to remain in the background, considering she told multiple people that she did not want Sprina together.

Will GH fans accept a changed Portia?

Whether or not Portia attends the memorial service General Hospital fans are expressing their dislike for this character. She may have time to reflect on her behavior during the next few months. Once Spencer returns she might have a change of heart and welcome him back with open arms. Trina's other half never took what her mom said seriously and he understood she only wanted what was best for her daughter.

This has not stopped viewers from expressing their disdain for what some call this "mother from hell." Portia accepted that Spencer was accompanying her daughter to Paris but she never completely accepted him and only tolerated his presence. The memorial service will take place later this week so be sure to tune in to see Port Charles say goodbye to Spencer. Be on the lookout for General Hospital updates and spoilers to find out what happens next and when Nicholas Chaves will return to his popular role.
