General Hospital: Fans are concerned about recent events

Some General Hospital fans are beginning to consider that the ABC soap might be cursed because of problems with the cast that just keep coming. Since January there has not been a week without an announcement of changes within the ranks or some type of controversy. Now heading into April comes the news that Nancy Lee Grahn will be temporarily replaced.

Soap vet Stephanie Erb will step into the role of Alexis Davis while Grahn recuperates from a medical procedure. The actress may look familiar because she is no stranger to daytime as she portrayed Camille Owens on Port Charles in 2000 and in 2001 Erb was a character named Mona in one episode of Days of Our Lives.

She also played Dr. Janice Mead on The Young and the Restless in 2014. Stephanie might also be recognized for her many primetime appearances on television series which include: Will & Grace, NYPD Blue, Grey’s Anatomy, ER, Weeds, Ellen, 9 -1-1, True Blood, and Ray Donavon.

It's not yet known exactly how long Grahn who will be recovering from back surgery will be away from her longtime role and controversial character. What is obvious to General Hospital viewers is that the actress is now one of a growing number of the cast who have been temporarily replaced in 2022. Some were announced in advance and other were sprung on viewers when they tuned in to watch the ABC soap.

General Hospital: Controversy has been constant in 2022

Asante Jones stepped in for Real’ Andrews (who was recovering from COVID) as Marcus Taggert and Holly Kaplan was recently in the role of Monica Quartermaine but no reason was given for why Leslie Charleston was missing. Helena Matthisson filled in for her sister Sophia Matthisson in a few episodes as Sasha Gilmore. Lindsey Hartley portrayed Sam McCall for one episode while Kelly Monaco was absent and Priscilla Garita took over as Harmony Miller while Inga Cadrell recovered from COVID.

In addition to the five temporary recasts General Hospital viewers are still dealing with Ingo Rademacher (Jasper Jacks) and Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) being fired for refusing to take the COVID vaccine. Rademacher is suing ABC's parent company Disney but Burton has remained silent. Some fans are hoping that both men will eventually find their way back to Port Charles,

Cassandra James ( Terry Randolph) spoke out against Rademacher who she believes posted a meme that was disrespectful to the transgender community. Some GH viewers began calling for Grahan to be fired because they do not agree with the views she has she has expressed about the situation. Carolyn Hennessy who portrays Diane Miller made public statements that seemed to throw shade at Grahn.

General Hospital: Cast changes in the midst

In addition, Sydney Mikayla left her popular role as Trina Robinson so she can focus on college and she was replaced by Tabyana Ali and fans are trying hard to adjust. Tanisha Harper just took on the role of Jordan Ashford which had belonged to Briana Henry so fans have had a lot of changes to get used to.

Replacing cast members firings, and temporary recasts are all part of daytime television but 10 disruptions within a 3 month period is quite an upheaval. There probably is no curse and all the above is simply a coincidence. Even so, this is a lot of change for the viewers as well as the cast. Be on the lookout for General Hospital spoilers and updates and keep watching to find out if the controversies continue or if everything thus far is simply temporary hiccups.
