The Purge (2013)

Each and every Purge movie deserves to make this list, but for the sake of longevity, we will only focus on the first movie that started it all.

After America faces the challenges of increased crime and overcrowded prisons, the political leaders take matters into their own hands by creating a new holiday to help remedy the problem. On this day, all criminal activity is legal for 12 hours (with the exception of certain cases).

This movie follows the story of a family who locks down their home in preparation for The Annual Purge, but midway through, something unexpected happens. There is a man outside of their home begging for help and one of the children let him in, while at the same time, making themselves vulnerable to the dangerous people the man was running from. Soon they all find themselves fighting for their lives to survive the night.
