While MCU fans are currently engrossed in the mysteries of WandaVision, they've been given a welcome reminder that there's plenty more exciting Marvel content heading their way this year, with a new trailer for upcoming series Falcon And The Winter Soldier dropping during the Superbowl.

The series, which features Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie reprising their roles as Bucky Barnes and Sam Wilson, was originally supposed to begin streaming in August 2020, before filming delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic forced it to be pushed back. The show will now debut on March 19, 2021.

Here are five important moments from the Falcon And The Winter Soldier trailer.

1. Bucky and Sam do not get along.. but they're willing to try.

The relationship between Falcon And The Winter Soldier's two lead characters, Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes, is a complicated one. Since their first official meeting in Captain America: Civil War (their prior encounter in The Winter Soldier doesn't really count, as Bucky was under mind control), the pair have had a competitive, volatile relationship, teasing and taunting each other at every opportunity. The only thing they really have in common is their unwavering loyalty to Steve Rogers.

However, Bucky agrees with Steve's decision to pass his Shield on to Sam at the end of Avengers: Endgame. The latest Falcon And The Winter Soldier trailer shows them in therapy together, and Bucky helping Sam as he learns how to wield the shield. While their relationship is still not an easy one, the trailer shows that they are willing to work on it, probably to honour Steve's wishes.

2. Steve Rogers may be dead.

Fans have noticed a few shots in the trailer of men wearing War Medals, and Sam in a suit, standing next to a large picture of his Steve in his wartime Captain America outfit. This has led some fans to speculate that the now elderly Steve may have passed away since Endgame, and that the shots mentioned above depict Sam attending his funeral.

Steve did appear in Midtown High's 'In Memoriam' video at the beginning of Spider-Man: Far From Home, however, there was speculation at the time that Steve may simply have been declared dead to avoid having to explain to the world at large the more complicated story of his time-travelling exploits.

If Steve Rogers has in fact passed away, this adds significant emotional weight to Sam and Bucky's efforts to carry on his legacy.

3. Baron Zemo is Back, with dangerous supporters

Helmut Zemo first appeared in Civil War, sparking the film's major conflict after framing the innocent Bucky Barnes for the bombing that killed King T'Chaka of Wakanda. Zemo's goal was to drive a wedge between The Avengers as revenge for the death of his family during the fall of Sokovia in Avengers: Age Of Ultron. At the end of the film, he is apprehended by the Black Panther, but the damage is already done.

Zemo, played by Daniel Bruhl, is set to return as the main villain of Falcon And The Winter Soldier, with fans excited by the knowledge that he will wear his iconic purple mask from the comics, taking on the villainous 'Baron Zemo' identity for the first time in the MCU. According to the new trailer, Zemo now aims to eliminate Superheroes from the world, and from the shots of masked rioters, it seems he may have rallied others to his cause.

4.The Return of Sharon Carter

Sharon Carter, former S.H.I.E.L.D Agent and the niece of Peggy Carter, also reappears in the upcoming series. Like Zemo, Sharon was last seen in Civil War, returning Steve's shield and Sam's Falcon suit while the pair are on the run with Bucky.

While she is most likely the third-tier protagonist of the series, fans have noticed that Sharon isn't necessarily happy to see Bucky and Sam when they first encounter her in the trailer. Sharon broke quite a few rules by returning Steve and Sam's things, which likely would have cost her her job had her actions been discovered. According to actress Emily VanCamp's description of her character, Sharon has been on the run since the events of Civil War. Depending on whether or not she was a victim of the Blip, Sharon could have been running for as long as eight years. That has surely taken some sort of mental toll.

5. The new 'Captain America'

In both trailers so far, there have been shots of 'Captain America' attending an event. However, this Cap is not Sam. Part of Falcon And The Winter Soldier's plot involves the American government choosing to ignore Steve Rogers' chosen successor, Sam Wilson, in favour of choosing their own 'Captain America'. The man they choose is John F. Walker, a former soldier played by Wyatt Russel. A military man through and through, Sam and Bucky come to fear that Walker will warp the symbol of what Captain America is supposed to be.

In the comics, Walker eventually takes on a different identity, U.S Agent. Walker was once described by comic writer Christopher Priest as "Cap's emotionally damaged misfit cousin."

Falcon And the Winter Soldier will debut on Disney Plus on March 19, 2021. Check out the trailer here:
