Eugenia

We all know the face of Eugenia Cooney most likely-She's a youtube star in her early adult life (age: 24) that lives with her parents, whom her friends have equated her mother to being an awful mother. But since Eugenia has not spoken on this issue and has not outright said that her parents had any hand in worsening her disorder, there's no way to actually tell for sure.

Eugenia has had a massive following on youtube and instagram for years and it was becoming obvious something was wrong; she was getting slimmer and then thinner and then just upright bony. Fans were worried and her friends were worried; Eugenia constantly assured everyone she was okay and fine, but lots of people grew more skeptical overtime and grew lots of disbelief in her word.

On February 10, 2019, Eugenia took to twitter and tweeted this with a selfie: "Hi guys! I appreciate the concern. I’m taking a break from social media and voluntarily working on this with my doctor privately. Please respect that." Some people were estatic to hear she was recieving treatment finally; many believed she was on the verge of death and they were hoping she would make it through treatment. Some other youtubers took this chance to claim their past videos made her go into recovery, which you will learn later in this video was allegedly not because of internet drama, but because her friends decided to trick her into involuntary treatment.

On July 19, 2019, Shane Dawson (a youtuber) made a video with Eugenia called "The Return of Eugenia Cooney". It was an enlightening video and it is actually attached above, please watch it for further details and just listening to her and looking at her, she seems to be doing a lot better on a healthy level. But I know Eating Disorders are complex and vary person to person, so she may still be dealing with her psychological health.

In this video, Shane is first talking to his friends and also Kati Morton, whom also has a youtube channel and she is a liscensed psychologist. She has been starred in multiple of his videos and he's asking her what to and to not say to Eugenia about her health and disorder; she advises him on how to word certain questions and the wrong questions may trigger a bad reponse if asked incorrectly. One question he did ask was how she was so able to be so active in her videos with her weight being so low and I think Kati's response is so important; she explained that we only saw the videos, we did not see before or after or the rest of her life. She would be running off of adrenaline for those videos, smiling and laughing and playing basketball or spinning or walking around or whatever. It was for the video, but that doesn't mean she had that energy all day. People with extreme eating disorders run off of adrenaline and that adrenaline is a short boost, one she would need for her videos.

So Shane and his fiancé go to Eugenia's house to meet her and she gives them a house tour, even showing them the pink room she would stream and make videos out of.

Finally, they get to talking and Shane asks if her friends were concerned for her and if they were doing anything; she says some people reached out to her and some didn't and some of her friends began to "bully" her. She continued on to talk about her treatment and how they went about it, so if you're interested in her going into depth about treatment for eating disorders, watch the video.

Jaclyn Glenn made a video the same day after watching the video Shane made and titled it, "The Return Of Eugenia Cooney - The Real Truth (Full Story)". She explains that they tricked Eugenia into coming to her apartment and called Psychiatric officials over to interview her, who afterward called the cops to force her into recovery. Jaclyn said that Eugenia called her mother and her mother screamed at Jaclyn, calling her "a bitch". She then says her mother did not want Eugenia to go to treatment. We have no idea as to whether Eugenia's mother was furthering her eating disorder or actually wanting to help since Eugenia has not spoken on it, but Jaclyn was clearly very upset in her video. That is also a video to go and watch if you want to know mors.

I am glad that Eugenia is back to making youtube videos and I hope she is able to make a full return to health.

For anyone dealing with eating issues or a full blown eating disorder, know recovery is always possible and please seek medical attention.
