Let’s see, work or explore Paris today. Exploring it is!

Season 3 of Emily in Paris aired on Netflix in 2022. Emily has a decision. While determining her career choices, Emily’s love life is in jeopardy. She has to figure out which is more important so she can stay in Paris.

Since I miraculously made it through the first two seasons of Emily in Paris without turning it off, I tuned into season 3. Expecting the usual cringe-worthy material, season 3 is a little better. But what is the series’ main focus?

Emily (Lily Collins) has shown some growth from her actions. How does she get through life? Her love life takes up her job (which Emily somehow has). Emily would be a more intriguing character if she tried to make something of her career.

Mindy (Ashley Park) has the most exciting story out of anyone. This series should be about Mindy. She wants to make something of herself in the evolution of her music career. Park is a talented singer. Her rendition of ‘Shallow’ (in French) is the best part of the season.

What has the series done to Sylvie (Philippe Leroy-Beaulieu) and Camille (Camille Razat)? Why does Sylvie keep Emily around? Why does Camille keep Emily as a friend when all she does is sneak behind her back? Camille has so much potential as a character.

Both characters are strong-willed and hardworking women. I used to like Sylvie for her strong motivation as a boss until her love life becomes the primary focus. The characters are flanderized as passive and unobservant.

And don’t get me started on Gabriel’s (Lucas Bravo) subplot. The storyline has become so old. It’s only made worse at the end. Writers had a chance to end the romance between Gabriel and Camille. I am not sure where the series will go in season 4.

The love stories are so pointless. What does Emily see in Alfie (Lucien Laviscount)? I was never fond of his character. At the beginning of the season, he abandons Emily, ignores her texts, and returns to Paris without telling her. Emily treats it like it’s nothing! She is so desperate for love and continues to date Alfie.

The basis of Emily in Paris is her career which Darren Star does a way better job focusing on in season 3 - to a point. Even when characters are working, nothing happens. Emily and her co-workers run around the office trying to figure out what they’re doing.

There’s also this ridiculous scene where Emily and Madeline (Kate Walsh) run around, screaming because a pigeon flew into the office. I was rolling my eyes at this.

It’s time to talk about something that’s retained a storm of comments from viewers; the outfits. My eyes were vomiting at the costumes. What the heck were these outfits? Emily wears a conga line of ugly, unfashionable, and atrocious clothes. One outfit looks like she’s wearing a hideous bow of elephant ears.

What’s more eye-catching than the costumes are the beautiful locations of Paris. Once again, location shots of Paris save the series from the lackluster plot and several cringeworthy moments. I am so jealous that the cast was filmed in Paris. The locations, restaurants, and views of landmarks are beautiful. I want to go on a trip to Paris.

I keep saying how I hope the series gets better. Season 3 of Emily in Paris was a little more compelling, developing the characters, but not its storylines. Emily in Paris is on Netflix if you want to check out the series.
