Days of Our Lives gets a new female detective

Rafe Hernandez might soon have a new partner and or love interest on Days of Our Lives. According to Soap Opera Digest, on July 19 Elia Cantu will debut as Jada Hunter a detective with the Salem PD. DOOL lost Hope Brady when Kristian Alfonso left the soap in 2020 and recently Sal Sowers (Lani Price Grant) made her exit from the NBC soap.

Alfonso said she was done with DOOL but can currently be seen on Peacock's Days of our Lives Beyond Salem 2. The actress also said in a roundabout way that she might be interested in returning to NBC for the right storyline. If so she might find competition if her feelings for Rafe resurface.

Days fans are excited that Peter Reckell (Bo Brady) is also in the Beyond Salem 2 cast and although his character died from a brain tumor are hoping that he too might find his way back to Salem. If this happens then Hope would not be available for Rafe and perhaps he and Jada might stand a chance.

Getting to know the facts about Elia Cantu

Elia Cantu play the trumpet and was a cheerleader and dancer in school who was a member of the marching band and jazz band. She was an award-winning Drum major and once performed in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. The actress was raised in Hanford, California and graduated with a B.A. in Psychology from The California State University of Long Beach.

Days of Our Lives will be Cantu’s first appearance on daytime television. If she looks familiar to Days viewers it is because of her prime-time roles. These include Black-ish, 9-1-1 This Is Us, Mom, Black Monday, Criminal Minds, and Lethal Weapon. She was also in the made-for-television movie A Cinderella Christmas. Hunter will more than likely be helping solve the murder of Abigail Devereaux (Marci Miller).

Abigail Devereaux murder mystery has begun

There are suspects in Abigail's murder but no clear suspects and this is turning into a real "Who done it."Lucas Horton (Bryan Dattilo) blacked out and cannot recall what he was doing when Abby was killed. Chad Dimera (Billy Flynn) told his wife that Lucas was behind Sami Brady's (Allison Sweeney) kidnapping so perhaps Lucas did the deed to keep his secret.

Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart) and Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien) are also suspects as both are seeking revenge on Salemites who they believed wronged them. Leo was seen sneaking out of the Dimera mansion and had a bloody knife. He also promised Gwen that he would get payback on everyone who ruined his wedding to Craig (Kevin Spiritas).

Gwen is angry that Abigail is the reason she went to prison and after a visit, Chad's wife smashed Gwen's "dad" mug. Ms. Rizeczech immediately after made a suspicious phone call so like Lucas she has a motive but both could be innocent. Leo is more of a mischief-maker than a murderer so he too might be innocent.

Jada will be coming to Salem right in the middle of this mess and Rafe and 0thers will have to fill her in on the details. Since she is new perhaps she will have a fresh perspective on the situation as she has no emotional ties to the murdered woman or any suspects. Be on the lookout for Days of Our Lives updates related to Elia Cantu's character. Continue watching DOOL weekday afternoons and be sure to catch Beyond Salem 2 on Peacock. Things are about to become very interesting in Salem so stay tuned.
