The Newest Streaming Service

To say that everyone was excited about this is an understatement. It launched and within matters of minutes millions of people in their 20s and 30s jumped at the chance to subscribe to this product. And for very good reason. Disney+ is everyone’s dream, it is literally a 1990 childhood brought back to our fingertips. Classic shows that were so amazing that we all grew up watching, Even Stevens, Kim Possible, That's so Raven and the list just continues. Plus, it has so many Disney, Pixar and Marvel movies to make everyone’s movie binging dream comes true.

Many people had issues with it, being that they were having issues logging in just because the servers were just overloaded. No matter how prepared they were for this launch, I do not think any server could handle the amount of traffic that we flooded the system.

Now Disney+ makes it so easy to search up whatever show or movie you are looking to see. The categories where you can search them up, whether looking in the Disney originals, classic movies, movies in general, as well as TV series, you can find whatever you are looking for super quick.

The nostalgia is so real with this. They have movies and show all the way back from the start. You can watch movies that were created back in the 1940s, and every decade until now. As a bonus with this that Disney has gotten Fox, Pixar and Marvel. The number of amazing movies that they have access to is easily rivaling Netflix, but it could be even more than Netflix because who does not love Disney movies? And not even the classics, but the new movies and the remakes, plus they have the Avengers movie so that is a massive game changer.

Disney released the number of subscribers they got, and within 24 hours of the streaming service becoming live, they gained 10 million subscribers. To compare, at the end of Netflix first year being up and running on a worldwide scale, they had 25.8 million subscribers. Now Disney has projected to have between 60 and 90 million subscribers by 2024. Which I think is a definite low-ball number. Considering that they have over 10% of what they are thinking of getting in the next four and a half years, I am sure that they will reach those numbers quite easily.

The challenge with this, is that it is not as versatile as Netflix. Meaning that there is not as many types of shows or movies available on their streaming service. It is Disney, Fox, Marvel and Pixar, that is it. I don’t think it will have as many shows from other networks like what Netflix has, but only time will tell that.

I think this is a feel-good type of subscription because that's what Disney shows, and movies do for us. All their movies bring out the great memories with all the shows and movies. It brings back movie night from when we were kids. Also, it teaches the younger generations some really moving things and important values. Many Disney movies have underlying messages that you realize come through when you get older.

In today’s day and age, I feel that a Disney subscription is really needed. Not just for us but for the younger generation. It is time to remind people that it is not all about social media or looking like celebrities. That it is perfectly fine for you to be a kid, and not worry about growing up too fast. Everyone I know in their 20s and 30s has gotten a subscription for this because they want to go back to being a kid and having no worries. No one wants to grow up and Disney+ will help us big kids keep that tradition alive.
