Daisy Ridley Reveals 'Star Wars' Fans Have Harassed Her At Her Doorstep

Daisy Reflects

Daisy Ridley became a household name after being cast as Rey for the Star Wars sequel trilogy. Viewers have been impressed with her performance as the trilogy's primary protagonist. When she was introduced in The Force Awakens, there was so much mystery surrounding the character who ended up becoming a Jedi. Answers were touched upon in The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker. Your mileage may vary on the results, but by the end, Rey was cemented as a prominent character within the overall pantheon of Star Wars. After three films that wrapped up the Skywalker saga (if Lucasfilm and Disney are to be believed, as you never know when they might change their minds), Ridley has reflected back on her overall experience.

The experience did, of course, have its positives and its negatives. Recently, she told Tatler magazine about a rather uncomfortable side effect of her stardom.

“'Star Was' was 'This Thing'. And then it was 'This Thing That Came To An End.' It hasn’t always been easy.

“There are things [about being in ‘Star Wars’] I don’t like talking about, because it’s not the good side. People turn up at your doorstep, that’s scary.

“And I’ve been followed, that’s a bit ‘woah.’"

Ridley did not delve further about this particular subject. Star Wars is so popular that it attracts a lot of different people, so there are bound to be those who do not respect an actor's personal privacy even when they want to be left alone when they are at home. It is a rather unfortunate thing that may happen with those who become well known.

Despite all of this, Ridley is still able to convey the positive side of her involvement in the franchise.

"But in terms of the actual experience? I had the best time. And now I’m out of it, I feel like I want to work really hard and honor the decision of the people that cast me.”

It sounds like Ridley feels motivated to continue her acting career in such a way that honors those who believed in her enough to cast her in this pivotal role. One might ask where exactly one goes from there. It is probably not a light decision for Ridley to make. She looks back at how bizarre it feels that she ended up being picked for the role of Rey.

“I just think there will always be a question, why was it me? That will always be there. Why me?’”

“I know there were a thousand other actresses who could have done it. I guess ultimately it came to a point where I decided I have to be okay with this."

"I got this magical piece of luck. The stars aligned. I have to be okay with the amazing chance. That’s it.”

Whatever Daisy Ridley does next, we hope that the stars continue to align for her so that she gets the roles that she wants to pursue. Rey was a character who, when we were first introduced to her, seemed to come from nowhere. While Daisy Ridley had acted here and there prior to the sequel trilogy, she was an unknown to general audiences. So it is somewhat fitting that someone like her was cast in this now recognizable role. Whether or not she may ever return to the franchise is something we have yet to see. But what is apparent is that, at the moment, Daisy Ridley seems fulfilled with what she was able to add to the films in which she took part.
