Bobbie Spencer was saying goodbye in her final General Hospital scenes

Jackie Zeman's character was not shown much prior to her death but final moments with Carly and Sonny were a proper closure.

GH fans are eager for Bobbie's memorial service

General Hospital fans are waiting for the tribute episode to Jackie Zeman (Bobbie Spencer) who died from cancer on May 9th of this year. GH tapes about 2 months in advance so some viewers are saying on social media they are expecting something before the end of July. Everything depends on when a tribute episode was taped and nothing official has been said about one at this point. Zeman was part of the cast since 1978 but in recent years she was rarely shown and was not really a part of current storylines.

This may be the second or third time I have written about this but I believe it bears repeating. In her last scenes on General Hospital, it almost seemed as if the character of Bobbie was preparing to leave town or die because she was getting closure in some areas. Looking back I wonder if Zeman knew her cancer was progressing and had shared it with GH execs. Perhaps she was planning to take a break or retire from the ABC soap but we may probably never know for certain.

Bobbie made amends and was honored

There are people who have said they were led to call someone they had not talked to in a while and shortly after that person passes away. It's also been said that some people make amends prior to their death and Bobbie had an instance of both things taking place. Nurse Spencer did not care for Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and often sparred with him over her daughter Carly Corinthos Spencer (Laura Wright).

The last time Bobbie spoke with Sonny she was civil and told him that although she did not always agree with his actions she appreciated how he always had Carly's back. When her death plays out on screen it would be nice if Sonny had a flashback and shared this last moment with others. it was kind of eerie watching that scene and I wondered if Bobbie was going to leave Port Charles because she could barely tolerate her former son-in-law. Bobbie had also made peace with hr former spouse Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner) and they were in a good place.

Bobbie evolved during her time in Port Charles

Bobbie was a teenage prostitute and was not certain who the father of her child was when she gave her daughter up for adoption. Carly showed up in Port Charles decades later determined to make her mother pay dearly. She began an affair with her mom's husband Tony Jones (Brad Maul) and made a lot of bad choices early on. Over the decades the relationship between mother and daughter was strained but eventually, they began to treat one another decently.

If not the very last scene it was during one of the final times Carly and Bobbie were together on General Hospital Carly announced she was changing her last name to Spencer. This was a great tribute to her mom and Bobbie was pleased. Whenever Bobbie's death is addressed Carly will probably draw comfort from this memory. There will probably be GH viewrs hoping Anthony Geary might return for the memorial service but he has made it clear that he has no intention of leaving Amsterdam for America.

Geary gave a statement of condolence when he heard the news that his TV sister had passed away and Zeman once said on record that she felt closer to Geary than she would have to a real brother. Be on the lookout for updates related to the tribute to Jackie Zeman and Nurse Bobbie Spencer and whether or not there will be any twists coming. Don't forget the writers strike and the actors strike will not affect the soaps at this time.
